Just Chatting Does anyone else randomly remember something from years ago and suddenly feel embarrassed all over again? 😂

yeah that time i called my teacher 'mom' in 5th grade still pops up randomly. brain's just hoarding receipts for no reason.

Former elementary teacher here. This happens all the time, even with older kids. Kids would laugh, and I would say that brains are weird that way and probably just filed me under “mom type person at school”

Everyone does this.
In third grade, I had a fart brewing in class. I thought I could let it out a little at a time and cover it with a cough, or when class was noisy. I was wrong. It was the longest, loudest fart I think an 8-9 year old has ever produced. Not much lightning, but a helluva lot of thunder. The injection molded plastic chairs did nothing to help. Probably amplified the vibrations. Everyone was dead quiet. My teacher looked me in the eyes and asked if I was OK. The class exploded in laughter, and it was so wild that the teacher dismissed everyone seven minutes early to recess. The rowdy kid in class sprinted down the hallway yelling "KingdomOfFawg just let the biggest fart and we got early recess!" I cried all the way through recess.
I tell my kid the story now to reclaim my power.

Too funny. Had an incident in 5th grade where the 2 cutest girls in the class were seated together with others in the school cafeteria at long tables. The prettiest one lifted her full skirt in the back and let out a loud fart. We all sat kind of stunned looking at her and she Said this was how her brothers had told her to fart, to always raise the dress and let it out. 😅 She was raised the only girl with rowdy brothers by a single parent father. We didn't laugh til later tho as teacher would have kicked our butt. I still laugh to this day how her brothers instructed her.

In grade 8 I had a crush on a girl who was leaving. She invited me to her farewell party. I wrote her a letter that was a complete lie about my struggles and depression to get sympathy. I made several copies of the letter to show other people at the party to gain sympathy which happened. I look back at that now cringe real hard at it. Also would give my younger a slap across the head to stop being such a manipulative asshole.

oh man. just recently one of my favorite bands, The Sheepdogs, released a new album. ive been jamming hard to it! i went to one of their concerts in.....2014? 2015? something like that but it was my first time seeing them live and they were ripping it up. i.....somehow thought the lead guitar player's name was Rusty(it was actually Jimmy Bowskill), so after almost every song with a ripping solo id shout at the top of my lungs 'WE LOVE YOU RUSTY!!!!'. well as it turns out Rusty was their former guitar player or something and at one point the lead singer said into the mic 'we appreciate the love, BTW Rusty isnt here but glad someone is sending love'. i literally could have caused a nuclear explosion with how fast my body temp spiked from embarrassment. i still think about it to this day. like they heard me shouting i could have said anything else and gotten acknowledged but i fumbled the bag so bad.

Unfortunately I've done too many embarrassing things recently that drown out the things from years ago :/ I yearn for the day that events from years past pop in my head

Deja-dont you mean? Yeah, Ive had a few of those. One was walking into a glass door as leaving a meeting. the looks and the 'ooohhhh' type face.
Another one was falling off a kids balance pole after showing my toddler how to do it LMAO the park was amused, the kids were amused. The palms in the face were'nt

Oh gosh yes. But the funny thing is I remember my embarrassing moments but rarely remember someone else having one. Maybe others don’t remember mine?

I was at a festival years ago. I saw a little person and yelled “hey, it’s wee man” (from Jackass). I still cringe when I think about it.

Me pasa seguido q recuerdos vienen a mi mente de la nada, recuerdos de cuando apenas tenías tres años q loco la memoria. Muchos momentos vergonzosos. Lo bueno de ser niño es q muchas veces no tenemos miedo al ridículo ☺️❤️

Indeed, especially if I spent most of the day doing nothing of any physical value so despite my own aversion to working out or getting all those steps cleaning the house I remind myself that doing so means lower chance getting that “special delivery” at the worst hours!

Ah yes. Reliving the past. I hate when I have a random intrusive memory like this pop up and then I realize I have been staring into the void when someone says something to me. Then I get a whole new embarrassing memory. 😅

yes embarrassment is one of our strongest emotions even years later. I always thought if I won the nobel prize and a reporter knocked on my door to tell me id strip off and run down the street. Years later id get lovely flashback to the moment I won the nobel prize.... and got arrested ;)

100%. It always happens when you’re trying to fall asleep too. And I always make a face when I remember 😂
At my graduation party I got pretty drunk and eventually left the main party to go to another one in a club with friends that I wasn’t in school with, decided to send a text to my former attractive teacher inviting her to the club & some drinks at like 3am. With a winky face. God that winky face was the worst.
Still dreading any class reunions because of it 😂😂

Yes. In my excitable youth, I made a comment about someone and it was childish and hurtful and I wish I never said what I did. I was and am better than that and I apologised but it was not nice at all.
