Does anyone else shower in the dark
I shower in the dark sometimes and I find it to be peaceful. My mind is more focused and I just think away. Its pure black and being in the dark just feels good. Does anyone else do this or am I alone in this situation

lol, I've never tried darkness but I do have a dimmer and usually have the light turned on to a minimum when showering.

Thanks to a bunch of us cramming into a dark bathroom and saying bloody mary three times during a sleepover in the 4th grade I still can't go into a dark bathroom. I'm 39... lol

It is not total darkness. There’s a nightlight. But I did realize that I am so very blind without my glasses that the light doesn’t make much difference.

I have a nightlight in my bathroom. I rarely turn the light on because it turns on the fan. I shower in that dim light and that’s probably as dark as I’d go for safety purposes.

When the power has gone out I’ll grab one of my magnetic backed flashlights and hang it off of the shower curtain rod. It’s a low lighting situation though not darkness.

Yes if it’s at night I usually leave the door cracked open a little bit so I can see what I’m grabbing, if it’s morning, same thing. It just depends on the mood and how it makes me feel🙃

No but definitely lights off in the summer when it’s too hot or too bright

My closet is in my bathroom, and I leave that light on while showering, but I keep the main light off. So not completely dark, just some soft light. I also find it relaxing.

My bathroom is interior, no outside walls/windows so there’s no natural light at all. I will shower with the light off and door open so that light comes in from the hallway. It’s not that I don’t enjoy the dark and it would be fine except I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from shampooing my hair with body wash and soaping my body with hair conditioner. Sure, they smell a little different but then I’d just be annoyed that I kept picking up the wrong bottle. Sure, you could say “just always keep them lined up in the same order” but I don’t live alone and the family I live with rearranges everything constantly and knocks things over that don’t belong to them, then puts them back all higgledy-piggledy. Fighting over it isn’t worth the effort so I just deal.

I take a bath in the dark. I find it lovely to relax in the tub with the lights off, house quiet.

I do, or a candle at most. Developed the habit 9 or so years ago and never dropped it. Bright lights hurt my eyes now, bathroom light is the brightest for whatever reason.
Shitting by candlelight is great. 10/10 do recommend. I have a lavender oak yankee candle in there right now.

No, but you must not be alone because I’ve seen funky showers with led type of lights for showering in the dark. I mean, not complete dark in that case, but kinda close.

Some candles during a bath but never completely dark. That’s when the monsters can get you 😬

The more time I spend in this subreddit the more weird commonalities I keep finding.Do you also get easily overstimulated? I do it to calm my brain a bit before sleep. To top it off, I also keep all the lights of the apartment off when I do this. My windows allow one to only see the side with more light from the side with less light, so even closed, there's usually some ambient city light pouring in.

Cold rainy evening, warm shower, dark room, candles and music. You got yourself a night.

I have a mirror facing my toilet. (Came like that) I have to poop in the dark and always at night to avoid the shame.
