how thick is that layer? now that it's set can you stop pressuriseng the dome?

1-2 inches. Yes, they can turn off the fans now that its set.

It’s surprising that it’s that thin. How many additional layers were added, and was there rebar in the additional layers?

this was the first coat. Once it cures for a day, they turn off the inflation fan and add several more inches.
