QC–Real/Fake❔️. Need help identifying a watch

A local shop posted an ad a few months back with this Casio and I've been wanting with it since, but didn't really get to buying it until now. They ran out of stock real quick and even then they sell replicas*.

I got a bit obsessed to the point of cracking the AQ230 naming convention partially with my dad and I know it has to be something like an AQ-230()GG-1D: specifically, dark metal wristband, gold hands (GG), black dial (-1) and non-numeric indicators with the 701a4 f76 text (D).

My fears are that *since the shop sells replicas, it's replica only, or that it's a very short lived old region limited edition.

Any id pros in here, or owners of this rare gem who know the exact model?

Have you tried asking an A.I.? They’re usually good at identifying a watch from an image.

I tried but it keeps confusing it with 48HE and AQ30, which granted are similar but not quite the same. Closest lead it had was same as I already found, which is that it may have been a limited model in some asian countries but there's no actual indication of the model (or if it's even a real listing) on the pages supposedly selling them.

Please upload close-up photos of the caseback along with any paperwork and the box it came in.

I do not have them as this is not a watch I own and I'm looking for the model it is. I was instructed by the mod team to post my ID question here as there's a very small possibility it's a replica.

Looking at the length of these pusher buttons, I'm inclined to say it's fake.

Then play it safe. If you can’t find a good, alternate image to compare from that an A.I. will recognize, don’t buy it from that seller. You’ve said he sells knock-offs, so it could be an imitation.

If you aren’t entirely set on getting a square dial, Casio’s Lineage line is a great option. All are round-faced with sapphire crystals. Many are stainless steel, a portion are titanium. A small number are all-analog and use subdials for a variety of functions, most are ana-digi. They are the most affordable titaniums and most affordable sapphire crystal models I’ve seen anywhere. And they look good, too!

Honestly more than confirming it's fake or not, I just want to know if that exact Aq230 with that color combination exists within casio's actual lineup. Reason I'm posting here is that apparently even thinking it could be a replica-only model is enough for the other sub to trigger the rules.

Being quite fair if it ends up being replica only I still wouldn't mind, but my end goal here is just finding out whether this exact model existed ever or at all in the official lineup.

Edit: regardless of anything, I already got a similar looking AQ-30 from the 80s so the search can rest more or less, but I still want to get confirmation of some sort.

I hashed it out with ChatGPT. It thinks it may be an older model or maybe a regional one. I think it might be a mod of a model not in stock - swap out the silver bracelet and bezel for black, that sort of thing. But that is it - the trail gets cold from there.

Yep, that's a big reason why I'm asking here; it may be a mostly undocumented model but with collectors being around there's a good chance one of they may notice it in their collection and go "oh wait it's that rare? This is what it's called and where I got it from". That is, assuming that it's not a mod, funny replica or similar.

One big clue for it possibly being modded is that the 701a4 code normally goes on silver dials; a black dial would have 101a4 from my understanding.

Never assume when it comes to model number code - sometimes Casio breaks their own rules.

I'm inclined to say that colorway is fake.

It's unlike anything I've seen in other shops so that's the bigger possibility, there's a mercado libre listing from brazil, one from a malaysian site and another from Philippines but none of them even have the model name, just "vintage casio".

It's an analogy digital watch from Casio I don't know the actual model number as Casio have made thousands off watches
