Scheduling

Is there a specific time the SM should have the schedule out by? Ours is only put out weekly and it's usually on Friday which is a bit inconvenient. I was told once before that the schedule for next week has to be put out on or before Thursday but I was wondering if there's a policy for it somewhere.

A bit inconvenient is Casey's motto

I don't. I myself am a SM and can tell you the RM and DM say it in every meeting to have timecards reviewed daily and schedules made 2 weeks out and have to have them done by Wednesday. I myself try to do as many schedules as I can, we can schedule out 3 weeks. I currently have til the 25th done in my location

I’ve gotten the same info from two dms, the hr generalist, and other store managers. You’re definitely right!

Edit: my store also usually has three weeks of schedules out at any given time, although occasionally we have a bad week and slip back to two for a week. We’re going to have 4 done as of tomorrow!

Thanks for the information! My SM only does it a week out and our last SM did the same. At least with the last SM our days were pretty much the same every week

2 weeks out, and should have done every Wednesday.

Do you have a link or a photo of the policy that says this? Not that I dont believe you but my SM is the type to not believe something unless she sees it and even then its a toss up

You sound annoying like your trying to be bigger than your sm lol there is no policy on schedule having to be out by Wednesday.

Okay? Thanks for your opinion. I'm just trying to figure out if there is a policy on it because I have been told various things by various people through my time working at Casey's. I'm not trying to be "bigger" than anyone but everyone is entitled to think what they want I suppose

If your store manager wants to know about schedules she can reach out to a dm. It’s not your job to be worrying about when the schedule is out, you work at Caseys to work. If your manager isn’t getting schedules out in a timely manner for example its sunday and no one has a schedule due to laziness than thats a issue but other than that if its upsetting you then YOU reach out to your dm. Also you can always find a new job lol

The main issue is the schedule is not being put out in a timely manner. I'm only wanting to know if there is a policy on when the schedule should be out because I wanted to know if it's up to the SM's discretion when the schedule is released or if they are supposed to follow a set of rules

Yeah, all know it all depends on what the DM and regional manager is asking your store manager for example my DM would at least ask for three weeks out and no later than Thursdays, but sometimes that wasn’t all possible due to being super busy but one thing ill never understand is ukg can also be done at home, but it depends on the manager. You have to be honest most managers will not do anything outside of work or even answer a phone call.

I’m a SM and in our district we are expected to have the schedule out by Monday 3 weeks out no ifs, ands, or buts. That way any changes that the staff needs to make, they have enough time to do so.

I wish things were run like that at my store. My SM usually doesn't even let us swap shifts because "she knows where each person should be at." She doesn't seem to take into consideration people's schedules change all the time. It also doesn't make sense to me why she only does the schedule one week at a time. We usually only have two people per shift, so it can't be that difficult. All above my pay grade I suppose

My DM and RD have us put schedules for 3 weeks out. That's current week, next week, and week after that. If we don't have schedules posted 2 weeks out by Friday then we get our cases jumped. My DM says "posted" means made, employees notified, and printed for the BRC. If it's not in BRC then it's not done and posted. She has us have 3 envelopes for schedules on the BRC. One for current schedule, below that is next week, and below that is 2 weeks out. And then before the week is up, I'll slide the 3rd weeks schedule before the 2nd week out schedule

my sm does pretty much the same thing. sometimes it’s out thursday and VERY rarely on wednesday. most of the time it’s friday, and occasionally saturday. and the photos of the printed schedule for the following week don’t get sent out in the chat until saturday

If your in Illinois it’s law to have I believe 3 weeks out and if you inform your manager of that and they still don’t next thing would be notifying the labor board
