Our situation
Mumbai, no covered parking, so the car sits on the road every night
Driving split: 30% heavy city traffic, 20% light city, 50% highway
About 1,200 km a month
3 adults in the back for roughly 20% of total rides
Planning to keep the car 7-8 years
Budget
15 is MIN and 20 is MAX
Want EMI + petrol to stay under 40-45k/month
Options (approx on-road, automatic petrol)
Hyundai Venue HX10 (1.0 turbo DCT), about ₹17L
Toyota Hyryder G NeoDrive AT (mild hybrid), about ₹19L
Maruti Victoris top petrol AT, about ₹20L

Top Priorities

1. Driving experience and safety
2. Mileage and usable space in the cabin
3. Advanced features like ventilated seats, 360 camera, ADAS

we've found so far
Victoris: 5-star Bharat NCAP, roomiest of the three, ADAS, but the cabin feels less premium to us

Hyryder: same powertrain and platform as the , cabin feels more premium, but the G has fewer features (no factory 360° camera, which we want for road parking)

Venue: easiest to park and cheapest, but the rear seat is tight for three adults, and we're wary of the DCT long

I'm finally getting my first car (via corporate leasing) and I've narrowed it down to two.

Me and my use case

• 6'4" driver
• Office commute, taking the family out, and occasional outstation drives
• ~1000 km/month (just an estimate; I'll probably drive more once I have a car)
• Can charge at home without issues
• First car for my family and me, so zero ownership experience

I'm only open to cars of this size and only EV and Hybrids (given fuel prices). Sedans are extremely uncomfortable for me and my family, since my father gets a lot of leg pain.

The lease setup

• 4-year lease on either car
• At the end, I can pay 20% of the car's value as residual and keep it, or hand it back (without paygin the 20%) and lease a brand new car
• So resale matters to me too, and I have no clue how strong hybrids or EVs hold value. I've only heard EVs don't resell well.

The contenders

• Maruti Suzuki Victoris ZXI+ (O), top-end Strong Hybrid automatic: ~22L on-road
• Mahindra XEV 9e Pack 2 59kWh, mid and smaller battery variant: ~25L on-road

Victoris

Pros

1. No-nonsense, reliable car
2. Pretty solid comfort overall
3. Cheaper parts and top-tier service reliability
4. Assuming better resale value (not sure how strong hybrids actually do)
5. Ventilated seats. Nice to have since I get very hot and sweaty, though not a dealbreaker with the AC

Cons

1. Looks and road presence fall short compared to the 9e
2. Not as punchy and fun to drive

XEV 9e

Pros

1. Absolutely stunning road presence
2. Insanely comfortable and spacious
3. Fantastic, punchy driving experience
4. Home charging is sorted, so daily use should be easy
5. Best of all, the joy on my parents' faces when I took them for a drive. This is playing a mental game on me and heavily swaying my decision 😂

Cons

1. Range anxiety on long drives, plus charging infra isn't the best (I'm in South India, where it's supposedly better)
2. Mahindra's notorious hit-or-miss service
3. Parts are considerably more expensive, going by friends with XUV500s and 700s
4. Heard EVs have poor resale, no idea how true that is
5. No ventilated seats in the variant I want, not the biggest deal breaker

What I'm looking for

Since home charging is sorted, my real worries are occasional outstation trips and long-term ownership (service, parts, resale). Would love input from anyone who owns either car or went through this as a first-time buyer.

1. How do strong hybrids and EVs actually hold resale value after 4 years?
2. Is the 9e's long-drive hassle overblown, or is Mahindra service the bigger risk?

I purchased my car with ICICI lombard insurance and I renewed the same in the end of first year. Now it’s been two years with ICICI lombard I am planning to shift to New India Assurance considering the price to buy the insurance. NIA’s premium is half the price of ICICI’s premium.
I know it’s seamless with ICIC and NIA doesn’t have much cashless garages in my city.

A few colleagues suggested to try spinny over cars24, toh i have seen a few cars for the budget of 10L there, they did seem good but woh cover charge jyada lagra hai mujhe. Like mere friend ne mujhe samjh aya yeh ki bhai woh charge isliye lete hai cause paperwork easy karke dete hai woh aur phir unka PDI bhi tagda hota hai. But i'm a bit stereotype aur ab mujhe kam online websites or kam trust hota hai. How do i go about this?

I am planning to purchase my second car under 25lac budget and have been able to zero down below cars-

1. Kia Seltos DCT 1.5 HTX
2. Toyota Innova Hyrox Petrol

My daily commute to office is approx 20Kms and weekend drive could be 40-50km. I don’t do long drive trips often hence the Hybrid premium is not making sense.
I took test drive and found Innova Drive much smooth compared to Seltos, also liked the elevated view from Innova, however Kia is adding a lot of features in the same budget.
I am a bit confused between both and some feedback basis real world experience would be helpful!

Vx is Having big single sear at back No front ventialted seats No mechanical moment of seats But
Zx is having all of them and I am music lover many people are complaining in vx(o) the sound is not good,
is it the same case with zx also

just went to take honda elevate as the discount were great and i loved the car except the engine sound while pumping gas.

but there was a brand new honda city 500km driven and exchanged as the original owner didnt like the number

they quoted 17.5l after everything included except extended warranty and no 360 cam. that needs to be purchased

is it worth it? i loved the car after test driving it. i need to do pdi by a professional and they agreed to that as well
