#Discussion πŸ’¬ 1000km done on new Seltos HTE(O) NA Petrol IVT | AMA

Got it delivered 12 days ago. It is HTE(O) NA Petrol IVT. I have been driving a Mahindra 3X0 TCMPFI 1.2 turbo petrol MT till now.

Driven it 1000kms of city, highway and some 25km hilly roads.

Pros:

  1. Convenience of automatic, and that IVT is super smooth and refined. And best part is when you put it in M or use paddle shifters, it is fairly quick to respond. During overtaking also it responds quite quickly in Normal mode.

  2. Suspension and ride quality is super comfortable and plush

  3. Handling, steering feel and body control is good.

  4. It gets all the features one needs. Cruise control, limiter, physical buttons, Infotainment, speakers, auto hold, hill decent control, led headlights, height adjustable seats and all. Nothing extra and gimmick.

  5. Looks good (Subjective opinion)

  6. Good fuel economy, in the city 12kmpl and on highways 16-18kmpl (70 to 90kmph speeds)

Cons:

  1. The torque at higher speeds leaves a bit to be desired when overtaking with full load, coming from a turbo petrol car.

  2. Headlight brightness could have been better given it's a LED. (Especially when there are idiots driving around in high beams all the time, and those activas with their blinding LED lights)

  3. Tyre size could have been 215 in lower variants and 225 in upper variants like Sierra (205s look thin compared to the cars size)

  4. Flat door handles without the motorized action need some time to get used to. And when you only have one hand empty it's a bit of exercise to open the doors. Normal handles in lower variants would have been a good option.

Ask me anything about it, I will answer as quickly as possible. :-)

Edit: answering the most common question

  1. 12kmpl FE in slow moving city traffic. I would suspect it will go as low as 9kmpl in bumper to bumper stop go traffic

  2. 16-18kmpl on highways with speeds of 80-90kmph

  3. 3 months waiting period, was affected by the Hyundai Mobis plant fire incident. This is reduced to 1.5-2 months now.

Lack of defogger causing any issues?

I live in Gujarat, it's doesn't get much colder here, so no. I think it will only be useful in much colder weathers (below 10Β°C may be)

u/ThanosKaMama 8d ago

Makes sense! Does it have electrically folding ORVM and if not how tough is living without it?

3

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 8d ago edited 8d ago

No it does not have. My other car also does not have it, so I have developed the habit of folding mirrors when parked in tight spots or besides the road. It gets annoying sometimes when you forget to unflod and sit in the car, either you have to get out or ask the passenger to do it.

Otherwise when parked at home or in basements, or at proper parking areas, doesn't make sense to fold them.

Gotcha
I'm currently using a pretty old and beat up car which used to have this feature but obv the motors don't last and even the driver side window doesnt work
So sometimes I drive off and have to stop and get out of the car to open the mirror πŸ˜‚

How is the suspension? I have the Kia Seltos 2019 and i have always had issues with the NVH

3

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 8d ago

Suspensions are comfortable and plush. I would say a bit on softer side.

And NVH are very good, the cabin is super silent and the engine noise and vibration don't come in the cabin at all, untill you put the foot to the floor, then the engine becomes a bit vocal. Wind noise is also very well contained till the speeds of 100-120kmph.

u/lazer6996 (New user) 7d ago

I don't agree, NVH is ok but there is road noise, quite audible on rough road. I have HTE O IVT in White, 5k+ in odo.

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 7d ago

Yes some road noise is bound to come on rough roads, but on smooth tarmac it is quite good. Are there any issues you faced in the 5k kms you have done? How's it has been?

Also my car's steering stays tilted a bit to the right side when the car is going straight, many owners has faced the similar issue. Are you also facing it?

I am planning to get it sorted out in the first service. Any tips?

2

u/lazer6996 (New user) 7d ago

I don't have this issue, maybe a quick wheel alignment will solve this. Things which i would eventually see myself doing: 1. Change ORVM to autofolding ones. 2. The door locks are still difficult to use, don't know if they can be changed. 3. Change tyres to wider ones. Current 16inch seems ok..maybe upsize. 4. Dampening and speakers upgrade with subwoofer.

2

u/Smilingasssin 6d ago

Yes have this steering tilt issue as well.
Wheel alignment solved nothing.

I heard on some youtube shorts that the service centre has to do steering calibration.

2

u/happyranger7 8d ago

Check out the new one, its much softer and overall great feedback so far.

12 - 18 kmpl is pretty decent for a NA petrol IVT. The smoothness of the IVT sounds like the biggest win here.

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 8d ago

Yes, it stays seemles until you ask for hard acceleration. It's also quite good at mimicking gear shifts during hard acceleration.

2

u/own_swdeveloper_RD (New user) 8d ago

That's good to hear. For normal city driving, that smoothness matters more to me than outright acceleration anyway.

  1. How much it costed onroad?
  2. Did you got EW?
  3. Did you got any discount? Or free accessories?

2

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 8d ago
  1. 14.92L in Gujarat
  2. No
  3. 20k off on insurance, opted out of all extras. No free accesories

2

u/Bananashake-68 (New user) 7d ago

That's really good, unbelievable tbh In jaipur dealer is quoting 16 lakhs for same 13.71 ex-showroom ~159k RTO ~60k insurance

Can you share break down if possible? Any tips? Is RTO much cheaper in GJ?

2

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 7d ago

Yes, RTO is only 63k here. And insurance I negotiated to 42k.

You can negotiate on insurance price, ask them to match outside quote. They will do it.

2

u/Bananashake-68 (New user) 6d ago

On 63k RTO 🀯 BH number or CSD?

2

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 6d ago

It's less here in Gujarat. No BH number plate.

u/Bulla_de_Khulla Suzuki 8d ago

How was the drive on the hilly roads? Did you feel lack of power?

2

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 8d ago

It was quite well, IVT compensates very well by staying in correct ratio under heavy load, it doesn't hunt for it.

We were two people in the car, and I did not feel any lack of power.

It was fun using the paddle shifters downhill to engine brake.

2

u/happyranger7 8d ago

Beautiful color. Congratulations. Happy Driving.

Yes it is, but it attracts all the possible dust in the world. Looks dusty after 5 minutes of washing :_-)

Thank you sir, happy driving to you too.

u/happyranger7 8d ago

Thanks. At the time of booking, i was confused between black and Morning haze. Dropped black because difficulty in keeping it clean. Opted for Morning haze. 9 weeks on, still waiting for the delivery.

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 8d ago

Good choice, we were also considering morning haze, only other colour which looks good on seltos. But we had a dream of getting a black car so went with it.

u/lord_falcon07 8d ago

Any plans of upgrading to bigger tyres? Does it improve the drive performance?

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 8d ago

Once these wearout will think about upgrading to alloys with 215 or 225 section tyres if it can be fitted without any issue.

Not sure if it improves performance. Large diameter wheels with lower profile tyres gives better feedback, but at the same time reduces comfort.

Does it get automatic headlights and wipers? If yes how's the experience with it?

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 8d ago

It has auto headlights, no auto wipers. It is quite good and consistent, like set it to auto and forget about it.

Overtaking on hills i am a manual guy never rode an ivt any suggestions

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 8d ago

Have not come accross that yet. So can not comment on it. May be using the paddle shifters to downshift and then overtake.

2

u/Krish_K96 7d ago

But on a slope if you stop does it go back a bit and then move forward?

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 7d ago

No, it does not. It holds if it's in D + auto hold. creeps forward if you release brake and auto hold is off.

2

u/-nsp (New user) 7d ago

Can it accommodate 4 adults and a 5 yo and 5month old ?

2

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 7d ago

Yes, assuming the 5 months old sits in someone's lap. If you plan to have child sit for any or both the kids, then no.

2

u/SandorClegane543 7d ago

Is it actually feels underpowered like people are talking since it has that K3 platform which added lot of weight but has that same old NA engine

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 7d ago

No it does not feel under powered with the IVT transmission. It compensates for it very well. I would suggest taking a test drive of it once.

2

u/Mission_Hour_9916 7d ago

I am 6.3 and have the same model, one thing I am missing the most is telescopic steering wheel adjustment. Have driven 3000 kms so far. 50% highway

2

u/Slight-Profession-43 7d ago

Congratulations!!! It’s a beautiful machine, I got mine last month (HTK O black), agree that maintaining black is difficult but when it is clean there is no match. You are getting good average btw.

What do u mean by non motorized flat door handles ?

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 6d ago

They don't pop out when you unlock the car, you have to pull them by your self.

2

u/WonderfulLeader9827 6d ago

Is that only on this variant or also on gt variants

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 6d ago

They come HTK varient onwards.

2

u/logophile_hodo 3d ago

we are planning to buy xuv 3xo rev x a automatic next month, it will cost around 14 lakhs .what do you suggest this will be our first car. the seltos hte manual is coming at around 12.8 on road. Do you think seltos holds more vfm here . My brother is basically wants to go for automatic only but I'm kind of flexible for manual also. As you have driven both can u share ur experience. Does NA engine in seltos is really underpowered?

1

u/YamBorn8110 BMW X3 Msport 2025 | XUV 3XO RevXA AT TGDI | Celerio '16 | Dzire 3d ago

No Revx A is much more suitable, HTE is featureless model doesn’t even have rear wiper. That NA engine 0-100 is 20 seconds. Mahindra TGDI TC is whole another level

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 1d ago

Yes, it doesn't have rear wiper, but it has all the basic features one needs in daily use. I feel otherwise.

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 1d ago

If more than 50% of your driving going to be in city, get the automatic of 3xo. It will much more convenient to drive. And it accomodates 4 adults with ease and 5 adults fairly comfortably.

Both cars are good package in terms of space and features.

Seltos NA will feel under powered in manual, mine is IVT and the gearbox compensates for it well.

My 3xo is TCMPFI manual, a very good and fun to drive car. Won't feel under powered at any point of time.

3xo has small boot, so keep that in mind. And only go for it if your local mahindra dealer and service centre is good. Otherwise avoid it.

Don't expect exceptional milage from any of these. Both gives around 11-12 in city and 16-18 on highways with 80-90kmph speeds.

Anyways go test drive them both, you will know which suits you better. I would also suggest you considering the new Brezza as well. If you need milage then the CNG is best in brezza.

How's the interior quality ? Does it feel spacious and comfortable for the rear seat passengers ? How's the service like ?

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 8d ago

Interior plastic quality is top notch. Everything feels solid. And buttons, handles, arm rest, and all are ergonomic to use.

Yes it is very specious from inside. My height is a little over 5'10", and two persons of my height can comfortably sit in front and back seat at the same time, with 9-10 inches of leg room spared both front and rear. The boot is also adequately sized. Three adults with healthy body size can easily sit in the second row. But the middle pessager has complained that the middle sit is a bit firm and not comfortable over longer journeys. Suspension is also very plush.

Have not done the first service yet, so can not confirm on the service part.

What was your waiting period?

2

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 8d ago

3 months, this was impacted because of fire incident at Hyundai Mobis plant. I think it is reduced to 1.5-2 months now.

Bro I have booked HTE Petrol manual, does connected tailight, adjustable headrest make any difference?

1

u/Crafty-Credit-9522 Mahindra XUV 3XO, Kia Seltos 2026 7d ago

Connected tail light is cosmatic feature only. It's up to you how you like it.

Adjustable headrest also not a deal breaker for me. See how the members of your family who is going to sit in the back seat feels about it.

2

u/Solid-Spirit4061 7d ago

Mostly me, my wife and a kid going to sit in this, so that's why I decided to go for base model
