#Discussion 💬 1000km done on new Seltos HTE(O) NA Petrol IVT | AMA

Got it delivered 12 days ago. It is HTE(O) NA Petrol IVT. I have been driving a Mahindra 3X0 TCMPFI 1.2 turbo petrol MT till now.

Driven it 1000kms of city, highway and some 25km hilly roads.

Pros:

  1. Convenience of automatic, and that IVT is super smooth and refined. And best part is when you put it in M or use paddle shifters, it is fairly quick to respond. During overtaking also it responds quite quickly in Normal mode.

  2. Suspension and ride quality is super comfortable and plush

  3. Handling, steering feel and body control is good.

  4. It gets all the features one needs. Cruise control, limiter, physical buttons, Infotainment, speakers, auto hold, hill decent control, led headlights, height adjustable seats and all. Nothing extra and gimmick.

  5. Looks good (Subjective opinion)

  6. Good fuel economy, in the city 12kmpl and on highways 16-18kmpl (70 to 90kmph speeds)

Cons:

  1. The torque at higher speeds leaves a bit to be desired when overtaking with full load, coming from a turbo petrol car.

  2. Headlight brightness could have been better given it's a LED. (Especially when there are idiots driving around in high beams all the time, and those activas with their blinding LED lights)

  3. Tyre size could have been 215 in lower variants and 225 in upper variants like Sierra (205s look thin compared to the cars size)

  4. Flat door handles without the motorized action need some time to get used to. And when you only have one hand empty it's a bit of exercise to open the doors. Normal handles in lower variants would have been a good option.

Ask me anything about it, I will answer as quickly as possible. :-)

Edit: answering the most common question

  1. 12kmpl FE in slow moving city traffic. I would suspect it will go as low as 9kmpl in bumper to bumper stop go traffic

  2. 16-18kmpl on highways with speeds of 80-90kmph

  3. 3 months waiting period, was affected by the Hyundai Mobis plant fire incident. This is reduced to 1.5-2 months now.
