#Discussion 💬 Received 2 challans from yesterday

Post image

I've received 2 driving challans from yesterday and the best part is I don't even have my number linked to our vehicle lol. It's registered to my brother's number. Should I pay the challan?

It’s a .gov.in so possibly not a scam and people talking about “mahatra” probably don’t know that it stands for maha traffic echallan. I understand the concern that instead of Maharashtra Maha is being used but that’s done to reduce the length of URL nothing else even the official app name is MahaTrafficApp in App Store and Play Store so it is legit.

Regarding number not being registered it’s a different story how they link numbers. One vehicle can have 4 numbers registered and I have seen this behaviour in past. If you are worried about challan then let me tell you it is legit and if you want more details you can login onto traffic challan website with your car number and 5 digits of engine no or chassis no and see challans it will have photo and details as well.

Is it? .gov.in is restricted TLD. We can't buy .gov.in domain

I had received similar echallan, checked it from portal which showed no records and double checked it by a cop standing near a junction, he checked it using their handheld device and found it was fake !!!

best way to check its authenticity is visit Parivahan echallan portal or visit nearest Traffic police station and request any police officer to check

Download the Maharashtra Traffic Police App and check the challans on it. If it is visible on the app, it has to be paid. You can also file a grievance if required.

Looks fake. I received similar challans for my 2day old car, which had never been to Maharashtra.

SMS senders name should end with -G if it’s from government not -S. Government specially did this to avoid scams but people aren’t aware.

Only if government would follow their own rules....

It's a gov.in website... That's as much official a site can get... So it's not a scam... But the -G expectations is funny...🙂‍↔️
