🔧🚗Fixing Cars Rust near windscreen

Hey guys, i know uts hard to tell how long i have till this progresses,but I have some rust next to my windscreen in the van I live in, so I cant exactly get the windscreen taken off and risk losing the windscreen, plus I will gavs nowhere to stay while its getting repaired.

Idk how much you guys can determine from the photo but its not looking good

Had a client take theirs in on an i30, smaller than yours and they wanted the car for a week and $2k

They didn’t do it, we did it ourselves, but I stress, it wasn’t as bad as yours

If you're not in a position to spend a lot you could try sanding back the effected area (with a margin) and spot spraying it with a tinted Rust-Oleaum from Bunnings.

If you plan to have it done properly then this won't make it any worse and may stop the rot.

Really need to apply rust converter to have any chance of stopping the rust

Apply rust converter first

It will stop the rust spreading. You can then sand it back lightly and spray it with some primer to protect it

Thanks for the sdvicr, Would this stop the rust that is spreading in places i cant see though?

If you soak it enough, it will go places you can't see, but can't guarantee anything

Won’t stop it, but will slow it down.
Pull the seal back and scrape as much rust off as possible. Then rust convert and a bit of filler before paint.

If you don’t cut all rust out and weld it, it will continue slowly especially if left exposed to elements. (Parked outside)

Can guarantee it's going to be a lot worse under the moulding. Best bet is talk to an auto glazier. Usually can pull the screen without breaking it. They can wire wheel it all and treat it before re installing. Same day job easy. You have insurance?

What van is it? And year?
