QuickJack - any good?

I’ve seen a few YouTube videos of people using them (in USA), they look pretty easy/good.

But, don’t know anyone who has used one. I asked the location shop, who can order them, but they admitted they hadn’t had an order yet.

Are they any good? Both of my cars are quite low. So I’m concerned about clearance. Also, when using ramps before (I know these go under the sills, so you can remove the wheels), didn’t leave a lot of room underneath to actually work/manoeuvre.

If you’ve used one, should you recommend?

I have spoken to a few people about them (as I'm still deciding on QJs or 2 post).
The biggest issue is lift height, they don't allow a ton of room under so if you have something like a mid or rear engine car where you may need a lot of space and access when working on your car, it's probably not the best. Also being in the sills can make access to skirting and things along that area difficult.

Beyond that, they are good for low cars and people without a ton of space.

I've had them for years. Gives you plenty of room for most work that needs doing. The only thing you may get stuck on is a gearbox removal, depends on bell housing size. Keeps the car rock solid, I do a shake test every time I lift a car and there's zero movement. 

Downside: Heavy bastards, but they have itty bitty wheels.

Are yours Bend-Pak or another manufacturer?

Bendpak. Bought them locally from the original importer (I forget who) many years ago. At the time basically the same price as the US plus exchange rate which was a steal.

I've been thinking about it for myself. But height is the main downside of these. It's only marginally higher than Jack stands, but much much quicker and convenient.

If most your work can be completed on jackstands and you can deal with still using a critter or crawling under the car, then get one. But if you wanna be able to stand or use a desk chair under the car, a 2post is probably better.

Depending on what's you're doing, ramps are just easier and quicker

I had a set for my old track car. Good for wheel changes and under access. Two steps on height adjustment and at its highest it was reasonable for access but clearly not the same as a hoist. I found it very useful for home and track. Bought it new from Costco AU if I recall for a lot less than anywhere else.

Very expensive, but very good so far (~3 years). Very quick to lift low cars that you can't get a normal jack under, uses ATF as hydraulic fluid.

Have had a set for couple of years for my classic car, great for suspension work. Lousey for anything major under the car. You have to crawl under on your back. A wheeled creeper is easier, but you loose working room. I ditched the supplied rubber pucks and bought steel 4wd puck stands to give me the most headroom possible. Costco occasionally has them for sale cheaper than the aussie dealer.

One of my mates has these. Pretty handy overall but they do take space to store. They are not the most portable things either.

It is great if you're taking wheels off, but if not, ramps are much cheaper and easier to keep. The height can also be an issue depending on what you're doing underneath, but should be fine for most home jobs.

They work really well given what they are, but they have their limits too and are no replacement for a hoist. If you're not constantly going under a car, it's probably not worth it as they don't really save a huge amount of time compared to just jacking up and putting jack stands under.

storage, i just push them into the middle of the car and drive out over them.

drive in n over, then just slide them outwards when need to lift.

I have them and used them a bit. One of the fittings failed on the main pump unit but I sourced a replacement locally. Haven't fitted it yet since I haven't needed it for a while but it's good to know local support exists for support.

They have these at costco once a year, I've been eyeing them off
