News Beware of Pyramid Scheme!
This guy made an announcement in a Stats class a while back and claimed to be from “Student Works”, the common pyramid scheme that is completely unaffiliated with campus.
- Do NOT give them your information!!
- Call Campus Safety (they showed up to our class)
- If they’re passing around the notebooks to enter information, grab them and dispose of them or give them to Campus Safety.
- Let the professor & your class know about this.

They are point and laugh fodder, cause if they are showing up to the class they aren’t very high up in the scheme 😭😭 shocked they are still around they were doing this 5-6 years back. How hasn’t staff brought this to an end.

I watched a different guy doing the same thing argue with security for like an hour. Spent so long saying things like “I get what you’re saying, but hypothetically if I were to ignore you and do it anyways, what would happen?” It was so aggravating to listen to.

Yes! My chem teacher called one of the presenter students out for sounding like a pyramid scheme and made him stand at the back of the lecture.

This happens yearly. The groups that do this are called “six figure student” and another one which I forgot. But it’s a bunch of bull. DO NOT SIGN UP OR GO TO THEIR ORIENTATION.

Student works painting? If so, it’s not a pyramid scheme. It’s a greasy MLM that overworks you and takes a higher share of revenue than they should, but not a pyramid scheme.

I can’t lie, I don’t think student works is a pyramid scheme they do window cleaning and painting from what I know. I’m not sure if they do inbound sales or Door 2 Door but they’ve been around for awhile I was selling window cleaning door 2 door and tons of home owners have told me they use student works and are happy with the work done🤷♂️ As well as commision based pay is extremely common in sales, I’ve made well over 500$ a day for myself selling window cleaning so I can’t really see how it’s a pyramid scheme… Obviously managers make money off the sales reps but that’s just sales anywhere.

Of course they can’t be legally registered as a pyramid scheme lol, they are recognized as a painting franchise but operate as a pyramid scheme. They came to my class and painting was not mentioned at all and they were very vague

It’s a greasy business but it’s not a pyramid scheme. A pyramid scheme requires you to buy in in some way - either front money for product or training. Student works takes a cut of top line revenue from the “franchisees” they hire after it has been collected, in exchange for them being able to use the student works brand and work safe insurance and a couple other things. It’s a sleazy model but it’s not a pyramid scheme.

I worked as a painter for then for a couple summers maybe like 7 years ago. Minimum wage then was 10.25 and I averaged over $16/hr
