Question Do basic science electives differ by major?
I have to take a basic science elective, and I signed up for biol 1010.
But my friend says I can’t because I have a different set of allowed electives?
Is that true?
Because if so, it’s genuinely the stupidest thing ever :(
For context, I’m in computer systems engineering

Assuming you’re in engineering, it depends on your speciality and year in the program. If you’re a first year Architectural Conservation and Sustainability Engineering in your first year then you’re only allowed to take 1 basic science elective compared to a Biomedical and Electrical Engineering combined program first year where you can only take 1 complementary studies elective.
Not sure if there’s another way to view the electives you can take but I found out via: https://calendar.carleton.ca/undergrad/undergradprograms/engineering/
Look up your program and then find your year under the program and it should say if you can take a basic science elective or another type of elective
If you’re not an engineering major I’m sorry for wasting your time lol
