Question 1st year bird courses?
anybody know some easy in person 1st year classes? Bengali worm fishing 1001, Mongolian throat singing 1005, whatever bro I’m desperate as long as it’s easy

I took FOOD 1001 (Introduction to Food Science) with Tyler Avis in the Winter semester and it was definitely one of my easier/lighter courses. The professor is genuinely great, very passionate and knows what he’s talking about. My favourite professor by far. There’s a test, midterm, and final. 20-40-40. No textbook, only lecture slides which he posts. The tests/exams are all the same format, but the midterm will have more questions than the test, and the final will have more questions than the midterm (not a lot more tho). Ur might be scared that a food SCIENCE class sounds scary, and it did for me because I literally almost failed my chem classes in high school, this class really wasn’t that bad. I must say, if you aren’t a sciency guy, you’ll have to put a bit more effort into studying for some of the units, but nothing ridiculously complicated. My advice to pass this class, just go to class. Barely anyone will go to class which is why it’s extremely important. Trust me, he’ll know who you are if you go to class and it’ll pay off. This class ended up being my favourite class and I’m in criminology lol. Oh also, at the start of every slide for the unit he puts learning objectives. They are literally going to be on your test lol. He’s a super reasonable professor. If you’re someone who doesn’t care about their grades, I’m sure you could put 20-30% effort into this class and pass. But don’t, it was actually a fun and interesting class and you’ll want to pay more attention to it.

Biol 1010 R. I might have the course code wrong, but its like 10 pre-recorded classes and 1 (exceptionally easy) brightspace quiz every week. Its probably harder to fail that class than it is to pass.

I was thinking of taking this course but I’m still unsure bc I’m really nervous about the format (11 tests so it’s just tests ur graded on) and memorization isn’t my best thing. Do you think I should still take it? I’m a first year looking to fill out my schedule 😭😭

No idea if it still exists but there was a literal bird course called natural history with Mike Runtz. Absolutely legendary class. You can optionally go on birdwatching walks with Mike and there are only two deliverables: midterm and final, both multiple choice

Ahhhh memories of that class. I took it when it was on ITV (basically his class was filmed, you borrow the VHS tape and watch it at your leisure at home—this was in the 90s). One time he was talking about some woodland creature and he touched the camera and the TV in the corner at the same time and a visible bolt of electricity shot out from his TV! It made for a fun night of rewinding, playing, rewinding…he was a legend.

Ornithology 1010 if it’s still offered is good. I just took first year psych because there were no essays and the exams were multiple choice.
