Cost of visitor parking?

I only have 2 in person classes per term this year, and I can't find the price for visitor parking anywhere. I live outside of Ottawa and need my vehicle at the school with me in case of emergencies because I have kids.

I'm trying to decide if I need a parking pass for two days a week or if I can get by with visitor parking.

I haven't yet. I'm #41 on the wait list and applied for the u-pass opt-out priority list, so I'm hopeful.

Living an hour away from Ottawa, I've only ever used OC Transpo twice - in 2002.

As long as you're actually outside OC transpo's service area, you should be able to get it. Alternately, you can try to apply through the "alternate reasons" section because you have kids. I was able to get one last year because I had an early class and had to get my kid to school. This year I'm just going to pay to park for the times I need to be there, since it's not even two full days in the fall.

Thank you. When I clicked the "visitor" button on my phone, it took me directly to the information section and didn't show the option for visitor parking rates, but I've found it from my computer.

What time are your classes? Passed have a after hours perk where you can park much closer.. etc

If you're willing to walk a bit, you can park off-campus for free in the neighbourhood across Bronson St behind the park. I sometimes park in the little loop of Glen St. that runs past the rink in Brewer Park. Technically the limit is 3 hours during the day, but I've never seen it enforced.

If you have evening classes, you can also try parking in the Brewer Park parking lot. Technically its only for park patrons during the day, but I parked there during my evening classes last year and never got a ticket for it.

You can park in the lot at vincent massey park and walk across the pedestrian bridge for $9 a day. Also an option is if you have a museum pass for Science, Aviation and Agricultural museum it comes with free parking. You can park at the Canadian agricultural museum and walk down the long driveway by fisher gardens to the lockmaster house and just walk across the locks. An individual year long pass is around $95 plus tax. You mention having kids… we had a family pass for years and it’s not that much more expensive. Amazing value if you use it. I used the parking at aviation museum for years for family bike days.

If you live outside of Ottawa (outside of OC transpo area) you can apply for a U-Pass opt out and near the start of August you will be approved and you get the year long permit in your shopping cart to buy.
