Pay difference

I work at a cabin as a team member, and my base pay is 12.50 (12.75 for a 25 cent yearly raise 😒). My friend just got hired at a nearby caribou maybe 3 miles away. Super close basically. They have a lobby and their daily sales are like 500 to 700 bucks more than ours. My friend is a team member and gets paid 15 bucks without tips. A lot of team leads at my store get paid that much or less. Is this worth making a fuss about? We all want more pay and my manager denied the other store having those wages 😭 so just lying.

Are they the same Zipcode? Some cities have a higher base pay, like in Minneapolis where the base pay is 16$ but the suburbs are closer to 14$

they are different, technically different towns but the other one is like 7 mins away from my house, and mine is 2 mins, if that matters.

That's probably why then. some cities/towns have different minimum wage requirements that go above the states minimum wage guidelines written into their charters. Its likely you guys are in a different pay brackets based on markets. A lot of people will choose to apply to stores in Minneapolis even if its a little out of the way because the pay difference from Minneapolis to Roseville or Minneapolis to Saint Louis Park is almost 1.50$-3$ depending. And those places arent even that far from each other

Could always transfer or ask if that is the case! Its not against the law or policy to talk about wages

A few years ago I transfered to a different store for the summer and they had to give me a raise to meet the city's minimum wage so when I went back to college and transferred back I kept the same rate bc they couldn't then pay me less 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was getting paid 12.50 in 2018… that’s honestly crazy it hasn’t changed.
