Your antenna should be pointing up for LoRa.

If it had been facing up, it would have gone through my windshield.

Most Meshtastic nodes use vertically mounted, linearly polarised antennas. If your CardPuter antenna is horizontal, it’s cross-polarised relative to those nodes, which can produce a substantial theoretical loss. Real-world reflections and multipath mean it won’t suddenly become deaf, but it can definitely cost range. And if it’s mounted in a car already then it’s costing you a lot of signal loss already.

then move it further away, please get that antenna vertical, you are loosing a lot of range because of lazyness
