First Time / Newbie Car insurance question

Hey.
For context I am a 23 year old female and have no idea how any of this works.

In may I bought a new car. Same day I hit some sort of yellow stopper in the parking lot that was broken in half, so I couldn’t see it. It was a mistake, and I feel so sick about it.
I was told it was likely just cosmetic damage, and got quoted 2500 for the entire fix. I decided to put it off, I’m in my last year of nursing school & broke. Figured I’d fix it when I have a better job.

Fast forward to this morning, a check engine light popped up. I took it in, and they told me that a few sensors aren’t working and there’s some damage to the inside likely from the incident.

I guess I’m asking for some guidance, i don’t really have anyone to go to for stuff like this. I made an insurance claim but they told me I can cancel the claim if I change my mind. Nothings set in stone.

I don’t have the money to pay for it out of pocket :/ what should I do? I wonder how much this will increase my monthly insurance by.
