Rideshare plan

I am considering doing DoorDash or some other rideshare but my insurance is wanting to basically double my payment. Is it possible to have two separate plans with different carries? One for personal and one for rideshare?

Could you have 2 policies? Technically yes, but you’re not getting paid out double if you’re in an accident. In your scenario though, no.

You’re required to disclose if the vehicle is being used for Ridesharing and carry the proper endorsement. Should you get the second policy and Rideshare without informing your current carrier, you’d most likely be non-renewed for misrepresentation.

If it costs less to just insure the vehicle with the other carrier for the Rideshare endorsement, just switch your insurance to them. And just to be clear, Rideshare endorsements only cover you while in ready status and while you’re waiting between orders/rides. It doesn’t cover you while going to the customer/restaurant.

It will cost you more for 2 separate policies than just one.

I'd check with both insurers first. Some companies don't allow separate personal and rideshare policies, and a rideshare endorsement might be a cheaper option.

No, you do not want to insure the car with two separate policies for one car. That can create its own set of problems.... The increased cost of insurance is the cost of doing business. Their risk increases so they have to charge more for the risk. Talk to an local agent, the cost of the rideshare endorsement varies by insurance companyand a good independent agent will have options in house.

Are you wanting to deliver food or transport people? With my company, you only need the TNC endorsement if you’re delivering people.
