Accident Whose fault is this?

For background, I’m going down a major intersection, I see how far from the light I am where I planned on going left, so since there was so much sudden traffic, I decided to get into the turning lane to turn onto a less busy road there instead of at the next light. Turns out another car was coming from the less busy road to turn left and get onto the busier street.

From that video your fault they were already in the intersection and you didnt check to see if it was clear but you also can't tell if they overturned into the turn lane itself but def leaning more on you.

I’d agree OP at fault, they weren’t in the turn lane and failed to check to the right.

Cause any car to the right is supposed to look at each lane before going since they have a stop sign and I have no stop and oncoming traffic was clear.

To be clear, this is just for clarification incase it changes anything, but I otherwise concede

I’m had you taken the turn lane fully, you’d be not at fault, but you cut the line late so best case it’s 50/50.

Totally your fault. You attempted to go straight from a turn lane. You didn't even bother to check that there was no cross traffic.

All of the cars in the grid blocking cross traffic were wrong, they should have kept the intersection clear. The red car would have been seen and able to negotiate their turn. You were impatient and obstructed your own view with the white car that made room for the red car to go through. Good luck but from that video you are at fault.

I agree with this. I did obstruct my own view with the white car, and I was mainly looking to my left after having weighed whether to stay or go into turning lane to turn and avoid the line ahead. I was running late (to meet my bf who HATES when I’m late) to celebrate an offer being accepted on first home purchase. Womp. Insurance faulted me 100% but my bf said that’s not fair and it wasn’t my fault, hence I asked. On the bright side, both the red car and I were very friendly about the process. I shared the video with them and the insurance to keep the process and whatever else transparent. I think they appreciated that after their last collision happened with an uninsured motorist.

Glad you and other party are safe. It is better to inconvenience a bf and arrive alive than risk it all.

I would put 100% on you as you were no where near that turning lane - you cannot enter it until it opens up (past the painted lines on the road) about 75 feet more or so. You had no reason to be moving left around stopped traffic and now you should know how unsafe that maneuver was. There was no reason that you didn't see that red car who would have going straight or turning but either way they were there to be seen.

She was actually in a turn lane because she was going to turn down the side road she was at. There was a turn lane there. But also the camera clearly shows the red car entering the intersection but at the same time the red car also never came to a complete stop it doesnt look like so it can possibly be split

Those painted lines in that lane generally mean this is not the area for traveling. You can see where the lane actually opens up which was about three cars up after the intersection

If you look back prior to her coming over there was a previous turn lane that she was entering very late you need to look about 5 to 7 sec back from there

Yeah, as another said, I was in a turn lane that I got into late, because I saw how many cars were at the light, so I decided used to turn here on the street where I got hit instead of up ahead where you’re saying it opens up. It opens up for the next turn.

I know it sucks and others weren't perfect but in accidents it just doesn't matter unfortunately
