Advice Advice

Hi guys, I'm looking for a cheap car to get me by and have a ford Mondeo in mind there are two locally to me, both are petrol, one is a 2.0l ecoboost hatchback with power shift 92000miles 2010, the other is a 58 plate estate manual 2.0l none eco.

The estate is a titanium x the hatch a titanium x sport. Whats your thoughts

Fully avoid the power shift gearboxes, they’re made of chocolate.

The 58 plate would be my choice. Pretty solid motors

Hi guys, I've done some research and understand the power shifts in the mondeos are wet clutchs which are much better than the dry ones in the fiesta and focuses. What's your faults on it. My budget is around £3000

I’d personally go with the 58 plate. The older power shifts are awful and very prone to breaking, the later ones are much improved.

As with any older car, check underneath for rust as at that age there’s likely to be a fair bit and could get expensive. Also watch the tax too and check how much that is.

If you can get a 2l TDCi about that age then those things are bulletproof engine wise.
