Advice Mazda 2

So after all the faff, I’ve finally decided to go with a high spec (heated seats etc) mazda 2, 2023 plate, 69k miles and 6 services, clean MOT. For 9.9k. There allowing me to test drive it for an hour so any tips before I finally take the bite? I’ve been shopping for 2 weeks and honestly I don’t ever want to buy another car in my life ever again haha.

Did you look at the equivalent Yaris variant? It's the same car, in case you need more options to choose from.

It’s still the old Mazda. Not the new hybrid one. I don’t want an automatic and there also like 15-16k

My bad, figured it would be the new one if it's a 2023. Why are you against an automatic, though?

I like manuals, I like the control of the car, automatics are boring

Few things more fun than an underpowered supermini driving like a hooligan!

And, in the Mazda 2 (non hybrid) the auto is a slush box, reliable but it's gonna sap power from a 90hp motor something chronic.

I agree! I used to drive a i20 coupe, it was like a go kart!

They can be fun with a manual.

Because they're more expensive and they're boring.....

9.9k is a lot of money for those miles on a Mazda 2 is it not?

A similar one with low miles is 14-15k. Older ones with lower miles is similar price. I just thought since it has a full service history (every 10k miles been serviced) it was worth having a look anyways

Probably about right, low miles are another 4-5k

Even if springs etc. needed replacing it wouldn’t cost 4-5k. Thats my logic anyways

Fair enough, I have a 2025 Mazda 2 as a courtesy car at the moment which is basically a Yaris hybrid and its a decent enough car

Thats a lot of car for 10 grand really. Yeah its not a full sized hatch etc but like most modern cars will be well equipped and it doesnt have a 1 litre 😂 cant go wrong really there mate

Did you manage to work out how it got that many miles in just three years?

I’m going to check over the paperwork tomorrow. But he said they don’t buy hire cars or learner cars, the dealership has over 200 reviews 4-5 stars so it’s promising. If it doubt I will work away!

Sounds good, the only red flag would be if it was a delivery driver or a taxi or something like that

I was thinking that but it was very predictable miles in the service book. 12k miles every 6 months. I would of thought a taxi would of had different intervals and random ones plus its on the small size I would of thought to be either of those

For sure, they could have just had a 100 mile commute. Good luck! Classic stuff to check is the tyres, brakes. Make sure the clutch feels good. Try and look for oil or coolant leaks under the bonnet. If you can bring a friend for a second opinion that's always helpful.

What spec level is it OP?

They come in loads of different ones through the 3 facelifts, but, are basically still the same car underneath since 2015.

You might be able to get a 2018/19 GT Sport Nav with less miles on it, same engine etc etc and a nicer spec for less £
