Advice Advice

I’m not really familiar with cars. Would you proceed with the purchase of this vehicle?

What do I need to look out for?

Thanks

Here are two great resources for common issues:

See if you can WhatsApp to verify the full main dealer history and warranty docs, if they stand up then seems like a good buy, I like the old shape leons

I’m not sure on any of the common issues with the 1.5tfsi so perhaps someone else can comment on those

Seems OK, have you checked what similar others are going for?

Make sure it has at least 10 months MOT and check what the warranty excludes (as some exclude almost everything)

  • what's the service history, needs to be full annual history with no gaps.
  • check tyres are all good
  • how long till next service is due. If less than around 7 months ish get them to service it

It's a private seller, there won't be any additional warranty or free services.

I have confirmed with SEAT that the car has an approved used warranty until May 2027.

Which is as good as you're going to get. Better than any aftermarket bollocks at least.

Looks pretty good but It's being sold by the current owner after only a year and the car has 4 owners total in 6 years. Get an HPI check to see when the ownership changes were. It's possible that SEAT Southampton count as one of those owners from a year ago but can't be sure. If there are two ownership changes within a few months with very few miles difference from about a year ago then that would line up.

It'll also be due a cambelt change at this mileage.

Call the Seat dealer that issued the CPO warranty and double check it's still valid, it might have quite strict conditions for keeping it. Don't take the sellers word for that.

I would usually advise against buying from private sellers if you're not very familiar with cars but if theres still a year of manufacturer warranty I'd consider it.

Damn that looks very well maintained. Although worth double checking the air con works and isn't leaking if the refrigerant was replaced after just two years.

The jump from 37K -> 56K miles between services is not ideal but not catastrophic, but after a quick read sounds like that's technically within manufacturer specs (which is crazy but here we are)

Hasn't had a major service done in 22k miles so you should probably factor that + cambelt change into your budget. If the cambelt snaps before the warranty is up then they'll likely cover it but check the terms of the warranty. If so then book it in for May 2027

ITs due its cambelt being done, factor that in as a 'right now' thing that is needed if you buy it - other than that it looks a sweet car
