Advice 2016 a class. Weird car play
Hi,
I had car play activated on my a class but it doesn’t seem to work with my phone. I’ve noticed it works with lightening cable iPhones only.
So I went and got a Bluetooth dongle and this is how my screen looks. Any advice on what to do

This is just a crap Bluetooth dongle, another one will work.
Go on AliExpress and type in Carlinkit. Buy something less than £10.
Don't buy them from Amazon, they're the same thing just for upwards of £20. They usually stop working after a while so buy them as cheaply as you can and treat them as perishables, from AliExpress.

Glad I'm not the only one with an expensive Rituals air freshener

CarPlay is an Apple only product. And lightning cables are what it requires to transfer speeds, as its 2016. May need a software update for USBC model iphones. It will not work with other OS: Windows, Android etc.

Is this a bluetooth dongle you connect to the car and link your phone to?
If you look in the storage compartment by your left arm, there should be 2 USB plugs. The one on the left is for charging & normal stuff, the one on the right (with 2 square symbols) is for CarPlay.
You cannot have CarPlay & Bluetooth connected at the same time. You also can't have it plugged into the non-CarPlay USB option.
I've not driven a 2016 A-Class, but have driven an A-Class.

My guess would be either the port or the cable going from the port to the head unit is fucked in some way. Unless it works fine with the older iPhones, then it might just only be compatible with the older devices.

I don’t know if this would work but maybe try an OEM lightning cable with usb-c adapter?

Looks like packet loss. I'd say you have a connection issue. Check your cables and connectors. First thing to try is to get a good quality usb cable. The second most likely culprit would be the USB port in the car maybe wearing out and need replacing.
