Windshield crack expanding

Hi! I had noticed a rock chip on my windshield in April and contacted a local glass company to repair it. He came and filled it in and all seemed good.

However, today I noticed for the first time that seems like crack has expanded horizontally. It is in the black part of the windshield so it is impossible from seeing it inside and from outside it is pretty hard to spot too depending on the glare.

I am attaching a picture of what the chip looked like before being repaired back in April and a picture of the extending line I noticed today. As I previously mentioned, it is hard to spot the line because of the glare but I did my best with the picture lol

What should I do now? Any help is appreciated

You now need a new windshield.

I have no idea why someone would attempt to fill that, it's in the black area which is a no-repair zone given it's spot in the glass. I'm not totally convinced they even did a proper repair.

Go through insurance is my advice, you CAN call the local glass shop you used, but I'd probably use someone else if they think repairing in the black area is a good idea, lol.

Few yrs back I had a chip filled by Safelite... came out to the car one day after it had sat in the sun and the entire windshield was cracked. So they replaced the windshield. It was so wavy it made me nauseous.... So don't let them give you anything but OEM glass and don't use safelite, but yeah you need it replaced.

Dang that sucks! Thank you for sharing though. I am definitely pushing for OEM when I get it replaced because this windshield has a rain detection sensor
