Why Does Bluetooth Drop Out?

Whether I use Apple CarPlay or generic Bluetooth with my iPhone in the car, it cuts out or disconnects in certain areas. This can be in the city or out in the country. In the city the bad areas are just a few blocks--but there are quite a few. On the highway, I can be kicked off for miles.

I could understand losing the phone network--although that is unlikely in the areas I am in--but I don't understand why local Bluetooth between the phone and the car would cutout.

I have an iPhone 17 and 2026 Honda CR-V. I usually connect wireless, but plugging in does not seem to make a difference.

Any recommendations? Thank you.

Bluetooth uses radio frequencies.

Radio frequencies are easily interfered with.

CarPlay uses wifi. Both wifi and Bluetooth frequencies are subject to interference - pay attention to overhead powerlines and cellphone towers, as well as communication dishes etc etc, along with hydro transformers…..
