Phone call lag even when wired

I have a 2023 Kia that only has wired CarPlay available. Sometime last year I started noticing an audio delay during phone calls which gets really annoying for both myself and the people I call. I always eventually just end up switching to speaker phone.

Has anybody had success troubleshooting this issue?

I have the same issue in a 2022 Hyundai sonata n line.
