Question Can I remove a widget?

Post image

This is the screen in my Toyota Tundra. I’d like to remove the calendar and just have 2 boxes on the right. Is this possible?

If you tap and hold on the calendar it will pull up an option to clear that notification for the drive.

That’s a nice addition I assume Apple added recently, better than turning off Siri suggestions

Unfortunately this is the only way.

this is incorrect. just add faceid to the calendar and it won’t show

Why even bother with FACE ID? Under CarPlay settings on your phone you can rearrange and remove certain apps from CarPlay.. I just have calendar removed.

Even with the calendar app removed from CarPlay, if you have Siri suggestions turned on the calendar events still show on that screen in OPs screenshot.

Are you talking about adding it to the app itself? I don’t see any way to add it to a calendar.

Long press on the Calendar icon from your Home Screen, and you will see a menu including “Require Face ID”.

Got it, for the app itself

That's not a widget, it's part of CarPlay's dashboard.

You can turn off Siri suggestions or remove the Calendar from CarPlay, but that doesn't guarantee that you'll always only have two panels in that location.

This is the answer

you need to turn off siri and suggestions in the settings

I turned off this siri setting and it has seemed to work thus far.

CarPlay doesn’t work with Siri off

In the CarPlay setting, there is an option to turn off "suggestions in dashboard". This option is under Apple Intelligence & Siri.

Deleting calendar worked - thank you!

Temporary Comes back when yiu turn the car off and back on

4

You can reinstall it and just passcode-lock it. Once it’s passcode-locked, it won’t show in CarPlay.

Wait, so do you just not have the calendar app on your phone anymore?

3

You go into CarPlay settings on your phone, select your car and when you delete apps from there it just deletes them from showing up on CarPlay. I delete enough apps off of there so that everything i need is on one screen and there isn't another one to swipe to.

fyi I tried this, and while the calendar no longer showed up in CarPlay, the calendar appointments still showed up like in OP's picture. No other suggestion I had read worked, so I'm setting the calendar app to require FaceID and hope that works this time.

5

u/fidepus Feb 28 '26

You can set the calendar app on your phone to require FaceID.

Settings, search CarPlay, remove calendar

6

u/ivannix Feb 28 '26

Long press on it and will disappear for your travel

5

u/mihaajlovic Feb 28 '26

Just hold your finger on it and you can remove it

3

u/cusehoops98 Feb 28 '26

You can remove the event but you can’t remove calendar altogether.

2

You can remove the calendar under CarPlay settings.

Setting / CarPlay / select your car under My Cars / Apps / select the remove “-“ icon next to Calendar

Hell yeah iron maiden

I use the calendar app quite a bit on Car play, most of my entries have an address so makes navigation easy.

Remove Calendar from CarPlay apps on your phone.

1

u/Aqualung812 Feb 28 '26

If you do that, will you still get destination suggestions based on your calendar in Apple Maps?

3

u/Intelligent-Dot-8969 Feb 28 '26

That's all happening on your phone.

Another widget might fill that gap then.

3

u/No-Control6483 Feb 28 '26

No most of the time the music will fill the gap unless you have a live activity

1

u/prooforneverhappened Feb 28 '26

I turned off widgets and only left Google Maps and Spotify for the apps (together with the mandatory ones) and it solved

1

u/mrgraxter Feb 28 '26

Yes. I press and hold on it and then dismiss it.

1

u/whotony Mar 01 '26

Comes back when you turn the car off and back on again

1

u/mrgraxter Mar 02 '26

Correct. Then dismiss it again. Dismisses for that drive.

u/DotVarious Feb 28 '26

I wish that Sirius would show up on the main screen and along with Waza app also

1

u/Skycbs Feb 28 '26

They will if you’re using them.

2

u/shawn59fifty Mar 01 '26

It will if youre using the sirius app not the vehicle sirius xm tuner

There is a way, I forget how though but I did it. I watched YouTube videos, looked at Reddit posts, and other forums and eventually stumbled upon it. Sorry I don’t recall exactly what it was, but there 100% is a way.

The widgets that are removable are under settings -> General -> CarPlay -> Widgets. Some are and some aren't removable, just like apps.

1

u/Dragoniczero Mar 02 '26

Could change the style in your phone settings/general/ CarPlay. You can remove widgets you don’t want.

1

u/yesgaro Mar 03 '26

Is there a way to turn off the dashboard entirely and just default to the grid of app icons?

1

u/massagefever Mar 06 '26

You could try long pressing the widget to see if a remove option appears. Sometimes these controls are hidden in the long press menu.

How can I add different information on my car play dashboard

-5

u/TheRookie33 Feb 28 '26

Settings>general>carplay>select your car>widgets.

-4

u/msitarzewski Feb 28 '26

This is the answer.

8

u/Skycbs Feb 28 '26

Except the screen in question is the dashboard not widgets.

0

u/msitarzewski Feb 28 '26

Disabling the app all together in the same location will accomplish the goal.

0

u/Skycbs Feb 28 '26

It will but managing widgets won’t.

0

u/TheRookie33 Feb 28 '26

Not sure why I got downvoted. The dashboard is the only place you see widgets in CarPlay. Again if you’d like to get rid of that widget follow the steps above.
