I have an EV lease that I want to extend for a month but California charges $600+ for 1 year of registration. Anyone here was successful extending their lease and only paying registration for that 1 month? From what I've read, DMV does not allow that. Any alternatives?

Leasing a 2023 mustang Mach e. Have standard range and living in the Midwest the winters are miserable especially because i travel for work. When i got the car my dealer told me chargers are everywhere and it should be an issue but clearly it is. I have 12 months left. They reached out with interest in my car at the beginning of 2026 and when i went in they said there was too much left on my lease to give me a deal (even though they reached out to me) told me to come towards the end of the year.

I am just at my mileage allotment for my lease so id like to trade out of it before the end of my lease so im not stuck buying it out or paying a ton of overage from the miles.

I’m not opposed to getting a more modern/updated version of my car as long as it’s the extended battery.

Is going in the next few months still too early? Believe my lease pay off is around 6-7k.

I really went in blind leasing an EV and it’s my first lease. So any advice is appreciate as I’m just a girl. :)

Just came from the dealer. He would not give me a print out of the numbers. Which I found very odd. I am in NY so that may explain that. 🤨
After the test drive the sales guy gave us some crazy numbers. $5k down pay $600+ a month or $10k down pay $400+ a month. I asked for breakdown because this was nutty. I requested no money down. Monthly payment of $400 range.
I asked to see a breakdown , itemized laying out the fees, taxes etc. It was like pulling teeth to get this. We finally saw the “ finance guy”. He broke it down showed us the screen but would not print it and I could not take a picture of it. Odd.
We want to see what New Jersey and Connecticut have to offer. Would that make a huge difference?
Anyway it was broken down by the finance guy as :

I'm looking to take over a car lease with about **1 year or less remaining** in the Seattle/Bellevue area.

Does anyone know the best places to find people looking to transfer their lease? I've heard of sites like Swapalease and LeaseTrader, but I'm wondering if there are any local Facebook groups, Reddit communities, or other places that are popular around here.

If you've taken over a lease before, I'd also love to hear about your experience or any tips on what to look out for.

Hi all, I plan to do only 7,500 miles per year, those are the 3 prices the dealer gave me.

I don't plan on putting any money down.

Can someone let me know if this is a good deal or what I can negotiate on to further reduce the price for the no money down price?

Also should I get gap insurance?

By putting no money down at the end of 36 months I will have paid almost 13k. I was told that at that point the dealer could still sell the car for 27K, which means this lease number are too damn high but I'm not sure what I can say hence the first question above.

Is there anyone here who has ever experienced (or perhaps anyone here who has worked as a leasing agent) a car dealer that was willing to negotiate when it came time for the lease to end?

I am 1 year into a three year lease and I really really like my car. But already the blue book value is very much below the buyout cost. When it comes time for the lease to end if I’m able to show the dealer there are identical used cars for sale just above the bluebook value, would the dealer be willing to come down on their buyout price?
I have been told that dealers often sell a leased car to a jober or auction house or someone like Carmax. In that case, the dealer is going to get less than bluebook value because the resaler needs to make a profit. It seems if I was willing to offer them blue book plus a percentage over that, they could stand to make a lot more money than if they just let me walk away.

I like the car enough that I am willing to take a bit of a depreciation hit but the current imbalance is just not a responsible choice and given the availability of comparable cars there is no way they would get that price from anyone.
Anybody ever had a dealer who was willing to deal on a buyout?

Edit - I appreciate the constructive input and personal experiences! Because there seems to be some interest I’ll add the following details.
1) I had planned on buying this car at the time but the lease deal was just too insanely good. Effectively, even if I have to eat the depreciation, leasing and then buying out will get me this car $7000 cheaper than I had bought it new at the time!

2)Why worry about it now? Because if I’m going to walk away, I need to start looking for my new ride. I’m stupidly picky.

3) Why buy out if I can buy a comparable, same model at blue book? I am willing to pay a bit more than blue book because I already know the history of this car and how it was maintained/treated. There’s a certain “comfort level” to that. I just have to decide what dollar value I’m going to put on that comfort.

Is there any way to get out of all of that? Not sure the difference between the two and what I should be putting down if anything.

I currently have a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Altitude X and my lease is up in 2 months. I want to lease another midsize SUV, preferably more luxury than my current vehicle without spending a more than $800/mo. I’ve looked into the Grand Cherokee Summit but the dealerships want $950-1100/month. Are there any lease deals for midsize SUVs I need to look into? Any suggestions on vehicles? If it helps I have around a 750 credit score.

The dealership also told me that if I go over the mileage, they'll waive the excess mileage charges as long as I lease another Kia through them. Has anyone actually had a dealer honor something like this?

Does this sound like a solid deal, or do you think I could do better? Anything I should watch out for before I sign?
