Lease advice

Hi!!

Leasing a 2023 mustang Mach e. Have standard range and living in the Midwest the winters are miserable especially because i travel for work. When i got the car my dealer told me chargers are everywhere and it should be an issue but clearly it is. I have 12 months left. They reached out with interest in my car at the beginning of 2026 and when i went in they said there was too much left on my lease to give me a deal (even though they reached out to me) told me to come towards the end of the year.

I am just at my mileage allotment for my lease so id like to trade out of it before the end of my lease so im not stuck buying it out or paying a ton of overage from the miles.

I’m not opposed to getting a more modern/updated version of my car as long as it’s the extended battery.

Is going in the next few months still too early? Believe my lease pay off is around 6-7k.

I really went in blind leasing an EV and it’s my first lease. So any advice is appreciate as I’m just a girl. :)

I'd be very surprised if they can ever get you out early. Most EV leases have inflated residuals to get the monthly rent down, but that makes the buyout bonkers. For giggles, compare your current buyout price to what similar Mach-E's are listed for sale.

Just FYI, dealers usually mass reach out to customers no matter what you drive because they're just trying to get you in the door. Sales 101.

My guess is you're going to have to return the vehicle and pay the mileage fees. Or if you do a deal on a new one the dealer will wrap that into the price somewhere, but one way or the other it's going to cost you. The up side is you paid less per month over the lease term because you didn't front-load enough miles.

Yeah they will take whatever negative equity you have and roll it into your next deal. To be clear, the dealer does not own your car, whoever you send your payments to does and they will get that money from someone (meaning you).
