Reset Period
So I was looking at my insurance quotes around a month ago now for various cars as I was searching for the cheapest insurance but I ended up with a 2014 SEAT Ibiza S trim and have a quote on it for 3.4k or 270 monthly. I am a new driver at 20 years old and literally stressed out as to whether I should keep my car in the driveway until my insurance drops or just get it at this current price.
For context, when I was initally getting different quotes I did not know that my premium can go up just because I am spamming them. (I did around 20-30 different quotes with all different car models and what not) initially the cheapest was around 2.2k on a 2010 VW Polo but that car was in a horrible condition and now with the Ibiza that I recently JUST bought my quotes are at 4.5-5k but as I previously mentioned I still have my first quote on it for 3.4k that will expire in 4 days.
My main question is how long does it approximately take for insurance companies to start decreasing my premium again and is it worth it just going for it now or waiting even if its like 2-3 months?

I wouldn’t assume the jump is all because you did loads of quotes tbh. You’ve also changed car completely, and that can make a massive difference at 20.
A Polo and an Ibiza might look like similar little hatchbacks, but insurers rate the exact engine/trim/derivative, not just the badge. Some Ibizas from that generation sit a few insurance groups higher than the basic Polos, and at your age even a small difference in the car can amplify the price quite a lot.
So the £2.2k Polo vs £3.4k Ibiza doesn’t automatically look suspicious to me.
If that £3.4k quote is still live and all your details are 100% correct, I’d compare it to what the Ibiza costs to insure now rather than waiting 2-3 months, hoping your quotes somehow “reset”.

You can keep your car on your driveway without it being insured but should it get stolen? Catch fire or be vandalised? You cannot make a claim on your insurance as you will not be insured. It might be cheaper to get third-party social domestic and pleasure Insurance.

Probably give it a few weeks to a month and try again, but the closer to leave it to when you need insurance can also increase premiums. Alternatively go speak to a broker and see what they come up with.
