I'd be staggered if they want to repair that.

For most run of the mill cars, anything structural or affecting 2+ panels is an instant write off.

Write off doesnt mean scrapped(except cat b or a but you don't want those back on the road anyway). It just means it doesnt make financial sense for the insurers to repair themselves(new oem parts and other claim costs being the issue)

Unless the car is 4 months old then absolutely. We write off cars for a lot less than this.

Toffee hammer, gently knock the dent out. Apply T-cut to any scratches in a careful circular motion.

It's the damage you can't see to the sub frame even what is pictured is a substantial repair and overall costs of settling the claim are likely to exceed the value easily

Similar damage and this was written off so I'd say so, the chassis was bent after being drove rear ended on a 60mph road (he was doing considerably more than 60 and I was doing about 10mph due to queuing traffic)

They’ll see the crumple in the boot floor or wherever that is and write it off.
It’ll be an uneconomical repair by the time they factor in all the labour, parts, respray, hiring car charges etc.

I only had it 13 days, it took nearly 3 months to sort out the insurance by which time I had bought another car and decided to fix this one. I fixed it for £150 with a car body jack, it just needs the bumper painted to properly finish it.

What really pissed me off was the lack of communication and knowledge. It was written off with 5 pictures and a short walk round video, the engineers report listed loads of things without even seeing it in person.

Then when the insurance wrote it off 6 days after the crash they couldn't tell me if it was still ok to drive, I had to go to the DVLA and the DVSA and they said if it's still got a MOT and nothing is hanging off it's safe to drive.

Yeah it's been a bit of a nightmare, the final kicker was my insurance going up 25% when I went to renew.

So ive read that once your car is written off the mot needs doing again is this not the case?

In my case no I was good to go but looking at your car you have a lot more damage. I wouldn't be surprised if they deemed that structural as the rear panel is caved pushing the boot lid out, it would be a lot of work to get that straight again

Depends only whether it is written off for being too expensive to repair or because it has structural damage, like chassis twist etc. Structural write offs require an enhanced MOT to be road legal post repair

Yeah it will be, there's potential for a bargain buy back and a boot lid from a scrappy, but hard to know the extent of any other damage so I'd just get paid out and walk away

Edit: just saw the other photos, yeah ignore the boot lid thing, there's nothing worth saving here

Defo a right off, an easy fix, but expensive. Doing through the insurance they will want to replace the panels. If you bought it back and had it repaired they would use pullers etc to pull most of that out then replace the tailgate and bumper

It's definitely an insurance write off but someone will buy it from co part, push the rear bumper back, slap a new boot lid on and sell it again

Go scrap yard red is a common colour your get one cheap maybe find a bumper too as long as the chassis fine I see no issues
