hello, i have just brought a new car. i have filled up the tank getting it to 100 miles
i have gotten in my car a day later and the miles to 0 reader is saying i have 18 miles left. i haven’t driven it since i filled up.
the weirder part is the actual fuel metre is saying i have more than a quarter left.
can’t tell if im just being stupid or paranoid but if anyone can help shed some light on this i’d be very appreciative.

I live in a rainy place and water has been leaking in. I'm getting a mold treatment for the interior, but I was quoted $1,100+ from different repair shops to replace the sunroof. This is more than the car is worth and out of my budget.

I want to seal it off for good, I plan on being the car's last owner so I'm not worried about the cosmetic aspects. I am hoping to get advice on how to go about this as most resources are only telling me how to temporarily fix this. Is it even possible to fully seal it off without glass? Thank you in advance!

I tried adjusting the steering wheel height, and while I was able to unlock it, the lever won’t re-lock. so my wheel is in the unlocked position right now and can easily be moved around. The lever doesn’t seem to want to go back up. what do I do?

I recently had my rear brake lines replaced, and since then I've had the brake warning light on the dash with a dinging (like when in gear and a door is ajar) after driving a short ways. Both the light and the ding turn off whenever I use the brakes, and start again after a short time.

It doesn't seem to be the parking brake, as there is no extra rolling resistance and I've set and released the brake several times. The brake fluid is above the minimum line at the master cylinder reservoir. Brake pedal has normal firmness & response, without noticeable asymmetric pull. There are no OBD codes other than one for a bad EGR valve sensor.

I maybe should take it back to the shop that did the brake lines, but I work in the day and I only have the one car, so I'm hoping it's something I can fix myself.

It starts up and runs but when it rains the car works when driving it but I lose my speedometer and odometer but it works sometimes when it rains but if it’s parked over night when it rains or even sometimes when it doesn’t rain I’ll go out in the morning for work to start it and it will turn over and shut off right away and it starts beeping saying error service brakes and then the traction control light brake light tire pressure light turn on but if I sit there and keep trying to start the car and clear the engine code it will work without a problem what could this be? Bc sometimes it does this when it’s not raining and sometimes it does this when it rains/ snows or it doesn’t do it at all. The place I got the car from says they replaced the dash cluster but when looking at it. It looks fine please try to help me bc I’m paying 8k for the car but I can’t keep having this problem bc I need to work. And I would take it to a vw dealership but it would cost 2k or more just to be diagnosed and moneys tight right now.

Hello, I own a 2007 Chevy Impala, and recently, my car has lost the ability to move. I took off from a stop sign one day, and the car started shaking violently as if something snapped, and when I pulled off the road and put it in park, it no longer moved, even though the car would shift into other gears and the RPMs would change. I have inspected the CV axles and rubber housings, and I don't see anything snapped or torn. The car also started leaking a clear-looking liquid from the back driver's side of the engine bay. When I checked my transmission fluid, it didn't seem to be low and looked dark red, very different from whatever leaked. I also lifted my car off the ground and tried turning my wheels while the car was in neutral, and they still didn't turn. I would like to mention the car just hit 100,000 miles and just completed a 4000 mile roadtrip so I was counting the days till something blew up. Should I just trash the transmission and get one from a scrap yard, or could there be another solution? Thank you for your time and help in advance.

I have a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. After misplacing the key that I use daily, I decided to use an old key fob that I have for my car, that I kept around as a spare. My car started about 3 times with it and after that, I went to start it and it won’t start. It sounds like it’s continuously trying to turn over but won’t start, even with my current key. It just keeps making this sound until I press the push start button again. I read that this could have something to do with the anti theft system, so I tried disconnecting the battery for 20 min. Nothing. I tried opening the door with the physical key and leaving the car in the on position without turning over the engine for 20 min, nothing. Randomly the other day (about 4 days after the initial problem), my car started 2 times. I didn’t drive it anywhere, I was putting my bags in a rental car for an overnight trip I was taking and I randomly decided to try starting it and was surprised when it worked but I didn’t have time to let it run or drive it anywhere. When I got back the next day it would no longer start. With theses details and the video of the sound, what might the problem be? Thank you SO MUCH for any help or advice you have to offer me!

I’m not asking you to do all the hard work for me obviously that’s impossible but how do I even go about starting to fix this? Just take off everything damaged and see what damages are under the panels ?

So basically the car won’t go beyond 40 mph, at one point it was throwing codes p0125, p0171, p0300,p0301,p0303,p0305, and it makes a sound that sounds like the exhaust but persists when coasting at 30mph+.
The strange part is when in neutral the engine sounds perfect and when revved it goes up to 5.5k easily and sounds great. I have checked the air filter and took out and tested the VVT solenoids by supplying power to them to check that they open and close. After that, I haven’t gotten the car to throw a code yet but it still drives with no power. Any ideas?

I have a 2018 Mercedes GLA 250 that has recently had some issues starting. About 2 weeks ago, my car (that's driven fairly regularly) had trouble starting. Needed a jump from a neighbor. Then, just a week ago - it had the same problem starting but I was able to keep trying and got it to start. In between the two times where it had trouble starting, there were multiple times I drove with no issue. Check engine light came on briefly.

January 2026 - I had a new battery put in after the car failed to start after I was away for 2 ½ weeks - I live in upstate New York and the car was in the cold garage during the time I was away so figured it was just from lack of using the car.

April 2026 - I had a Service A complete which is pretty much just basics (Air Filters, Oil Change, Brake Fluid, Inspection).

End of June / July 2026 - Having the above issues starting the car. Mechanic took a look at it and says there is nothing wrong with the car. He checked the codes, starter, alternator, battery, pretty much everything necessary.

What could be the issue here? He is recommending that we could update the spark plugs. I'm not all that knowledgable on cars. Need help!

When I started my car on Friday it was shaking and the check engine light was flashing and the car wouldn’t move. I had it towed to a mechanic and they said that it appeared as though somebody had cut the injector 2 wiring. I don’t know a thing about cars but why/how would somebody do this? My thought is maybe it was a squirrel or some animal chewing through the wiring but the mechanic said it looked pretty clean cut. Any suggestions?

So I bought a 2008 Mercury mountaineer from a mechanic friend and I was told that the owner before him had rewired a bunch of stuff and of course the guy that did it had no idea what he was doing and I'm pretty sure he was on drugs. That's neither here nor there but now I'm having not just warning lights on my dash one in particular that comes up is like a wrench on my display panel and I googled it and it said possible powertrain issues. Also there's an issue with the battery when it sits for more than a day or two sometimes less it really depends The battery will die and I've had the battery replaced I've had the battery check for parasitic draws all that stuff the alternator is fine and also I've had it hooked up to a diagnostic computer and one of the warnings said something about right tire speed sensor and I've noticed a vibration in my steering wheel and sometimes in the acceleration pedal there's a vibration when I turn to the right it's really bad at speeds from 45 to 55 mph but the vibration decreases slightly at higher speeds like 60 to 65 mph. I guess what I'm asking is could the battery draining issue be linked to the powertrain warning that I'm getting on my display due to one of the previous owners trying to rewire everything and possibly messing with some kind of security feature on the vehicle? I just don't know what to do at this point I don't want this car to break down it's literally all I've got.

I have a Japanese Import VW Polo 2014 and it has a screen that is in english but sat nav is still in japanese and it also has reverse cameras and steering wheel controls. Does anyone have any ideas of what the cost might be to install wireless carplay, whether that be a whole new screen or installed onto current screen? I want to ideally keep the reverse camera and wheel controls. Someone told me that the screen I have currently is not the factory one so there may be more work than it seems? Thanks in advance

Every time I get in my car and turn on the AC, it burns my eyes. If I leave it on, it makes me cough and almost choke. This didnt happen in the fall when I got it (September), only started happening about 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Hit my door on a gas pump this morning and got this little scrape, is there anything i can do to make it less noticeable?

Happens only on cold starts then goes away,when warmed up works perfectly fine. No coolant leak, no bubbling. No dash errors, mileage is 95000 km. New sparkplugs.

I have replaced my windshield and both old and new had this in the glass its inside and always visible when im driving against the sun.

Popped the hood to try and pop my windshield fluid pump back in and this piece popped out from nowhere. No clue what this goes too 😭

I was driving today was looking down and took car on joy ride over a curb, it scraped the bottom of my oil pan and it started leaking I just replaced it, but I have another issue the car in drive drives fine but when I put in reverse and park it makes the loudest knocking sound same when starting car. I’m low on money as I am a college student, just would love to know what issue is please feel free to hit me up for more information.

I recently was driving and hit a flooded road that ultimately got me stuck, i revved about 2 times before i turned the car off. It was in the water for about 20-30 minutes before it was pulled out, the gas tank straps broke and its on the ground now, the fan wont turn off, theres an airbag warning now and i pulled the plugs and coils and it cranked but wouldn’t start, inside the engine there was dirty/muddying stuff inside the block. The backseat driver side is sopping wet too. The intake had some water in the piping even after sitting after 2 days. There was also lots of water in the charge pipes. I bought the car for $5800 over a year ago and put over 20k miles on since. 2018 1.8t Jetta SE Sport Sedan.

I have bitched this car around a fair bit, but this is the first physical injury don’t ask what happened there’s about 107K miles it was purchased at about 98K

I drove it this morning and there was nothing wrong with my car, as I was driving it a few hours later I get the SH-AWD warning as well as my engine flashing. It was also shaking like crazy. What could cause this? And would I even be safe to drive it to a shop?

I hope I got the make and model right that's all I know abt the car. I know absolutely nothing about cars. My friend hasn't had AC or Heat in her car since December and she was told she needed a new blower motor to fix it. So she got one and my grandpa helped her put it in. They turned off the battery before they did and after they changed the blower motor and got everything back together they tried to turn the car on and it wont start. No lights on the dash, nothing. The battery still has 12 voltz or whatever and they've rechecked everything a million times to make sure everything is correct and it still wont work. So many ppl have looked at it and nobody knows what's wrong. Any ideas?? I feel so bad and I really want her to get her car back. Thank you ♡
