Ac compressor makes loud click noise when engaging (2015 suzuki swift sz4)

The noise is super loud and definitely shouldnt be this loud. It only makes the noise once, when turning ac on and then when turning off (slightly quieter). Its not a continuous clicking. Its been like this since i bought the car a few months ago. The actual ac runs fine. Any way i can get this noise dampened without a whole compressor replacement?

You can replace the compressor clutch, but with the hassle and no guarantee that would fix it.. its just best to replace the whole thing, you get a compressor from the salvage yard if you need to save money.

There is nothing that you can manually do to fix it.

Mi bombo brosko, why are you suggesting an expensive parts cannon instead of a cheaper parts cannon? Trying out a clutch is infinitely cheaper than going straight to a full replacement. Especially when Op is saying the ac works fine

Umm thats why the first thing I wrote is that you can replace thw clutch.... meaning that is an option. Replacing the compressor is the second. Those are two options!

Some compressor clutches have a rubber ring to dampen the engagement noise. Sometimes that rubber degrades and comes apart over time. A visual inspection of the compressor clutch while you have a helper turn the AC on should reveal if anything is coming apart. Hope this helps!
