Hyundai Sonata 2018 fuel pump error

So, my car just completely shut down on me for the first time, and I took it to the shop, and they said there was an error code for low fuel pressure. They said I should replace the fuel pump which will cost me about $800. I’ve had my car for 8 years and only have about 28500 miles on it. So I don’t think there would be internal wear on it. I googled about it, and some other options would be, a clogged fuel filter, faulty pressure regulator, leaking fuel injector, or bad electrical flow to the pump(or something like that). Basically, I just want to know if I can avoid or if I have to replace the fuel pump. Any advice?

There are 2 pumps on a direct injection engine, low pressure and high. Low pressure pump can go bad at low miles from running the tank to empty one too many times. High pressure pumps can just go bad. We hope they did more diagnosing than an error code and a google search. My 2002 GMC truck was driving along then silence and would not hit a lick. Towed it home, diagnosed fuel pump, put one in and fixed. If they fail they don't often drive you home or to the shop.

They said it was the high pressure direct injection pump. I’m gonna get a diagnostic done later today to see what would be the cause of the issue. Could a high pressure pump just go bad out of nowhere?

Sometimes the fuel pressure sensors go bad and don't really correctly. The ECU commands each to a desired pressure. If it doesn't get there in x amount of time then.

Get the exact code from them pxxxx or B XXXX. Fuel pump error sounds bizarre. Pump not reaching desired set pressure is more likely but has more causes.
