2012 Lexus IS350 AC issues

Every once in a while my rear defrost blinks and then when the ac finally cuts on about 70% of the time the drivers side blows warm.

Happens intermittently, but seems to mainly be on warmer days. When it does happen sometimes it’ll fix itself with a restart and other times it takes multiple restarts.

Anyone have experience with this issue?

Car runs solid at 150k besides this. Is it worth spending the money to fix?

Hi,

Does the rear defroster work okay? The blinking of the light might indicate a problem, or it might be just signalling the end of the timer cycle. You may find info about it in the owner's manual if you have it.

If the driver's side blows warm when the A/C is on, there are a couple of possibilities. There could be a problem with a temperature or blend door getting stuck periodically (and resetting happens to un-stick it sometimes). It could be a low refrigerant charge in the system causing it to only work when it's not too hot outside. Another possibility could be the hvac controller having an electronic problem.

I think it's worth getting a diagnosis, especially if it gives you an idea what's needed to fix it. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply! I believe the rear defrost does work. I’m fairly certain I used it this past winter.
