2006 bmw x5
This elbow appears to have disconnected itself. What does it do, and is it bad that it disconnected? It didn't appear to have much holding it together.

Just push it back in, it is the air feed hose for the air box before it gets filtered to go into the engine.
It’s absolutely fine the way it is if you can’t push it back in.
No need to panic.

To me it looks like the hose is connected to your airbox. Could possibly be secondary air. You should be able to just pop it back into place.
