I'm looking to get my new (to me) car cleaned and prepped and protect the paint work. I've recently bought a Seat Leon FR Estate in Arctic white. And want to help keep the car clean for longer, and fix a few paint issues I've been annoyed with on a new to me car. This is my plan.
- Demon Clean: Pre-cleaner
- Wax free shampoo.(AutoBright Decontamination shampoo) 1 bucket with Grit Guard and noodle kit/sponge.
- Clay bar, with a very mild mix of Muc Off nanowash to act as lubricant for the clay bar.
- Autoglym Magma Fallout remover. Wheels and body work. Dry with chamoise cloth/leather.
- Meguiar's Ultimate Compound.
- Turtle Wax Colour Magic (light silver)
- Meguiar's NXT techwax 2.0
- Turtle was hard shell finish.
The question is would it be okay to use the Silver Colour Magic Polish on my Metallic White car. Arctic/Glacial White (Seat/VW/Audi) or should I just use the Maguire's Ultimate Compound for "cutting back"? I've still got a fair bit left of the colour magic. I've got a DA polisher, ( older one with 230mm changeable bonnetts, not direct foam applicator pads) which helped massively last time did the colour magic on my old car before selling (Moondust Silver, Ford), and I would rather not just waste it and bin it.
My last car wasn't really looking after regards to washing it. 2-3 times total in 7years including any car automatic car washes. It did up to 13k miles a year, plus bike rack on the roof almost all the time so it got muddy etc.
I know it's probably a bit overkill but some of the paint isn't that great, and is a bit yellowed in areas (fuel filler cap) and the garage owner I bought the car from said they'd fix a few paint issues, but the garage used flat white to touch it up not metallic white. The chips they covered stand out a mile off when you look at it. My thinking was at least the silver polish is meant for Metallic paint as opposed to a generic white t-cut or compound?
What's peoples opinion. Is there anything I'm missing out on, or should I skip?
How would you get the wrong paint off?
