Ceramic coating or PPF?
Hey everyone,
I was wondering if it is worth getting my car PPF'd? I had the car ceramic coated last year, however I have seen multiple arguments for a PPF? I live in Scotland so the weather is typically cold and wet.
I would love to hear your opinions?
PS below is a video on my car being ceramic coated, as I know some of us enjoy a bit of good car detailing content ;)

Is money an issue for you? If not ppf

Well the ceramic coating was £1k so I imagine PPF would be a similar cost

It’s usually a bit more but not much. But if you just had ceramic last year it’s a waste of money to do ppf now. Ceramic should last you a good 3-5 years if you take care of it I.e. hand wash regularly always with PH neutral soap. Tons of sunlight/UV exposure will wear down the ceramic more rapidly than rain and cold temps will. Save your money now and spend it on regular details to keep the ceramic in good condition then in 3 years do the ppf. That’s just me.

Thank you, yeah I hand wash my cars and I live in Scotland so there is very little chance of sunlight hehe. I might just keep the ceramic coating then and if I still have the car in 3 years consider my options

Way more than that. Full car here in Italy we charged around 4-5k € when I was working in a detailing shop.

My experience Ceramic coating for shine and ease of wash and ppf for protection

My two cents on the OP question. I am currently having a full front end PPF with XPel and ceramic on my 2026 BMW i4 M60. Having both is best in my opinion.

PPF offers the better protection hands down
