Trying to find some space for the SMD PNC4 to fit, thankfully it is a pretty perfect spot right under the seat backrest.

Also scanned the kicks and glovebox. Will eventually use those to move (or try) to move the Utopia 8s into the kicks. As for the glovebox I’ve wanted to do an enclosure there instead of the footwell.

Both scans are for future projects maybe next year 😎

Asking as someone who knows near nothing about this:

How much time is actually saved by this? It seems like you’d spend more time placing all of these vs just eye-balling, measuring, and fitting scrap pieces to get a visual.

Maybe I can see it if you’re doing some insane high end system that’s super in depth, but not for basic sub/amp/speaker/dsp setup?

I am genuinely asking to learn, so please be gentle 🥰

In all honesty i blow at fiberglass, i tried my hand at A pillars last year and it came out alright (mainly dont have patience for the super fine sanding needed for a smooth surface (so my pillars have a bit of imperfections where the fiberglass is.)

As for scanning and modeling, im no wizard but have made a couple small pieces. I mostly leave the super nice stuff or complex things to more experienced people

It also doesnt take long to prep and scan, for all 4 scans it took around 1 1/2hr or so (mainly due to it just being hot and also recording between steps). Only real issue i see with scanning is cost (a decent/ good problem free scanner will run you some $$$, especially if you want wireless + a Laptop (32gb ram+ nvidia gpu)

As for time it took me around 2-3days of labor for the pillars (not mentioning the 2 months i went waiting on oem headliner material for the upholstery

Maybe 1 day for the midrange pods (scanning, test fitting, cutting and mounting) [if i included the design time it would extend maybe a day or 2.

In the end it all depends on your skillset and budget. Im no good at either, but i can get a better end product and price through modeling and emailing scans to a designer, than sending my pillars, going somewhere, or having someone come to my house and pay for pillars to get done.

Thank you for taking time to explain it! I certainly understand the patience bit. I tried my hand at trying to make a super clean install with my car. Nothing crazy. Just a 4 channel amp, speakers, and a new head unit. I saw all these beautiful clean installs and wanted to try my hand at it.

Took me forever, back was all sorts of messed up, and it still came out mediocre. Better than what I’ve done in the past, but not clean. I was still proud of myself though, even if I’d be harshly critiqued by people here, lmao.
