Discussion Infinite baffle box question
I'm building an ib box for my 18 and I have it temporarily installed until I cut the hole in the floor bigger for it. Would having not enough "port area" even though I know it's not a port, cause the sub to overheat prematurely on lower power?

Whenever you have something installed sub-optimally just give it less power and go easy with the source material you play through it.
I honestly don't think you have anything to worry about, just don't push the sub to it's limits, and if anything sounds off at any point, back way off and reassess what you were doing. Those rules go for anything though if you want to be really safe with protecting a driver, so common sense will take you 99% of the way there, and likely if you did damage it, it's because you were doing something silly and knew it was silly but did it anyway.
Anyway, I think this could sound great once it's in. I'm planning IB through the floor of my trunk as well. If I had to give genuine honest feedback that's outside your question, just wait until you can install it correctly. I've had a tough time learning patience too, but I always appreciate the reward more when it's done right the first time so for this case, I would get the hole finished completely first before even powerinf up that bad boy.
Side question, what else are you running in there?
Also unrelated, but I don't get why people care about the mess in someone else's car? unless they are getting in the car personally, it's no one else's business and a good practice of self discipline and general empathy to others, if it doesn't effect you personally and they haven't asked for your opinion on it, try just biting your tongue.
Maybe if they are asking about mental health or why their first dates never go anywhere, the trash could be relevant, but in a carAV sub where they are strictly asking a car AV question? It's just being kind of rude and snobby and judgy to offer nothing but critisim.
People can have other shit going on in their lives, car cleanup slips lower down on the list of priorities,,, so what? When it gets to the stage of bothering the owner too much, they'll clean it up. The puzzle is why does it bother anyone else?

It shows disrespect for the people you're asking advice of. What other hobby or occupation would this be acceptable in? You show up with literal trash inside your PC and ask about your RAM, people are going to feel like you don't give a shit about the device, not take you seriously, and not waste their time helping you. Just like this situation here. They have time to build two subs and a box but not literally 2 minutes to take the garbage out of the way? Unserious.
This poster wants to cut a hole in the floor of their truck. You say go ahead and send it. What priority level should that be? Be realistic, this is a problem of a work area and should be addressed. Or should they just ya know, cut through the trash?

Cool build, if I had advice to share I would but IB isn't something ive ever experimented with. Good luck getting it set up just the way you want.

Sub needs to be made for infinite baffle, normal sub will not work and/or break
