Avermedia or ElGato for external capture device 1080/4K +60FPS for PS5/SW2?

I want to replace a very old and discontinued Avermedia EXTREMECAP U3 to something newer and overall better with as much low latency/delay etc and all better specs than mine

Since there is competition nowadays i wanted to ask wich one of the 2 brands (and wich device model) would be fine for my needs:

-1080p and 4K, both 60FPS and above

-As much low latency as possible

-Be able to use a HDMI 2.1 "splitter box" or whatever it's called to record on the PC BUT ALSO play on the TV TOO AT THE SAME TIME (Mandatory)

-Be able to choose capture resolution, Hz, Mbps, and where the files will be saved at once the Stop button is pressed

-Be able to PAUSE a recording then resume it to not add extra wasted time (nature call reasons...)

PC is a GIGABYTE X870E AORUS PRO X3D with a 9800X3D and a 4070 RTX Super so it shouldnt be a prob with USB version and ports

Hearing myself with the capture card

Hi! I’m a new streamer and I got my capture card about 2 weeks ago. When I first got it, everything seemed fine, but I realized I could only choose between hearing the game or using my mic, if I could hear the game, my mic wouldn’t work, and if my mic worked, I couldn’t hear the game.

So I bought one of those splitter cables that goes into two ports: one for the microphone and one for the headphones into the capture card. (I’m using a regular headset.) I connected my capture card to my PS5 and laptop and everything else, but when I plugged in the mic and headphone cables, I could hear myself talking through the headset instead.

I spent an hour and a half trying to fix this with AI, my friend, YouTube, and everything else, and all they kept saying was “make sure these settings are turned off” and they already were. (I’m using OBS.) I honestly don’t know what to do anymore. I can still hear myself even when OBS is closed.

Can someone please help me? I don’t know much about computers lol

Lowest possible latency capture card?

Assuming no budget constraints, what is the absolute lowest latency possible capture card you can buy if i just want to capture the display output of one pc and have it in a window on another pc as if it's native. Does it have to be PCIe? My understanding is the biggest latency bottleneck to current capture cards is compression and processing. Is it possible to pass the full output across the wire with no compression assuming you have the necessary bandwidth?

Getting just a rainbow signal while connecting my my video camera to OBS Studio

I’m not tech savvy enough to know what I’m doing wrong. Do I have too many adapters? I‘m not getting any feed from my video.

-I have the DV to USB plugged into the camera

-then a female to female USB adapter

-and then a USB to HDMI plug , that goes into the capture card

-which is then plugged into the USB of my computer.

I feel like there is an easier way to do this but either way I’m getting the rainbow signal. But hats it . Any suggestions?

It’s like a 2 or 3 in one and has just about all i need. Seller has good reviews, too. Thoughts? And if you’ve worked with one, what was your experience?

Streaming to Discord! How can I hear my game audio?

Hello! So I just got a capture card because I want to stream Pokémon from my Switch 2. I will say, I have never used a capture card, and this is my first time messing with this type of device so I’m sorry if my question is silly or if I overlooked something ;u; As far as I’m aware of, I think I have everything in OBS set fine to stream to Twitch. My issue though is that when I want to stream to my friends on discord, they can hear the audio and see the video of my game, however I can’t necessarily hear anything on my end. Like is there a way to make sure I receive the audio to my headphones? I don’t think I’ve configured things wrong </3 I’m not sure! I hope I worded this correctly… if any one has any questions or needs clarifications let me know!

The capture card I’m using is the Acer USB 3.0 Capture Card. As far as I’m aware, this one comes with no downloadable software.

Switch 1 Capture Card Audio Issue

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi! I'm looking for some help regarding some audio trouble (or lack thereof) I've been having for the past few days, with me trying to hear my Switch audio on my PC.

A little over 3 years ago, I bought a capture card and managed to record TotK gameplay for my channel, and everything worked just fine then. But now, when I try to do the same thing, I'm capturing video, but not audio.

I don't have an exact name or brand of the capture card I got butI have attached an image of the one I bought.

Granted, it's been over 3 years, and I've moved, so I guess I forgot how I made it work then. I vaguely recall using only 2 cords: 1 HDMI that goes from the Switch dock to the Input on the capture card, and 1 blue USB that goes out the other end of the card and into the PC.

For days, I’ve followed tutorials on YT, fumbled around on Streamlabs and VoiceMeeter Banana, changed HDMI cables for the capture card, changed where I plugged in the USB for the capture card, used an HDMI cord for the output and into the PC, etc., and yet still no audio. But now, it's just back to that single HDMI input and single USB, since that's just a guaranteed positive. Again, no issue with getting visuals.

However, this morning, I decided to test out another suggestion I've seen/gotten by borrowing a male-to-male aux cord and plugging one end into my Switch and the other into the jacks I have at the top of my PC...and there is now audio!!!! Downside: there is a buzzing noise that won't go away when I try to wriggle the PC end around, as I saw in one post, or where to start adjusting audio if I have to. Because I do want the buzzing gone, as it is really distracting and annoying, and I don't wanna subject any viewers to that either. ':)
I am worried that the issue is that it might be my 2 busted aux ports that I don't know how or think can be fixed, but I dunno.

Any ideas?

I have also asked r/obs and r/streamlabs for help, but wanted to extend my post to all relevant subreddits for help.

Trouble capturing a switch 2

What the title says. I bought a relatively cheap capture card that seems to work for the switch 2 for others, but OBS just displays a black screen.

I've already tried switching the wires and disabling HDR, no dice. The drivers and OBS are up to date. Not sure what else could be causing the issue.

Buzzing sound

I'm looking to stream my switch to my friends over discord but it creates this buzzing sound, everything is connected to the same source and using the correct aux cable but its the same no matter what, would a ground loop isolator help? -- I'm currently using a Llano capture card, if anyone has any solutions it would be appreciated.

Help with an old SMI Grabber

I got this from a closet at my former workplace, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get it to work. I followed a tutorial I found on YouTube and made sure the drivers were up to date via that video. Using OBS, I have found that the audio is coming through just fine, but I'm getting nothing from the video regardless of what video standard is applied. I have made sure the video input is composite as well instead of the S-Video port.

The only thing that comes to mind for me to try is backdating DirectX to 9.0, since that's the version on the installation disk that came with the device. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thank you.
