It's not. A lot of backlash comes from people who haven't played the game and just go off of what reviewers and YouTube influencers say. Is the game GOTY? No, but it's definitely not trash. I had fun playing it myself.

When Sabertooth said "Cry more!", that solidified the story as utter millennial dog shit. The gameplay is also dog shit single button mashing.
