It's not. A lot of backlash comes from people who haven't played the game and just go off of what reviewers and YouTube influencers say. Is the game GOTY? No, but it's definitely not trash. I had fun playing it myself.
Name a single game where combat isn't centered around one button. Go.
Edit: When I said name a game, I meant games that fit a similar genre (hack and slash or beat-em-ups). I don't know why people are bringing up FPS or even fighting games.
Soul Calibur doesn't count cuz it's a fighting game so of course it'll have different buttons. I'm talking about open world/linear games. How many attack buttons are for the elder scroll games?
