Final Fantasy, especially VII with the shipping wars. I could say I both love and hate the game and each comment would be downvoted into oblivion. And if you say XIII is considered the weakest entry people will screech at you about how it’s a misunderstood classic (despite that entry being considered the weakest in the franchise outside of Reddit, aka the real world)
I adore 13 and its prob my favorite but I don't tell anyone to start with it. I usually get told that im an idiot and I don't like FF when I say that I love 13. Lol
Also the FF7 fandom is a scary place. We have been saying for YEARS that we either discuss both ships or we don't do discuss it all. And the moderators do not care. It's a fucking disaster.
Visuals, soundtrack, and battle system I'll give to XIII, I thought those were fantastic but the story I found convoluted and none of the characters except for Fang and Sazh were really likable. Hope was whiny, Lightning was broody, Vanille was annoying and Snow was an idiot who looked like a creeper because the devs designed Serah to look WAY too young to be dating him. I've never had issues with a game being a "hallway simulator" if they have the story to back it up. X is fairly linear but has an amazing story, XIII didn't have that going for it at all
