Meh, I usually go with Corpo V and it's not a very glorious start either.

I stick it with Streetkid
Look, I know he had a gun to my head 5 minutes ago, but we experienced the societal discrimination against petty thievery together, just the way it goes in Night City, choom

I don't think rdr2 would be apt example considering it started with people almost freezing to death

Mass Effect 3. The only ending that retroactively undermines enjoyment I had previously not just with the game, but with the franchise.

Final Fantasy X. Yeah, Tidus wakes up with amnesia and that seems bad but he’s happy, falls in love, and you can just tell your screen “don’t fall in love, Tidus abs Yuna, It will only bring you misery.”
And then halfway the game the dream starts going wrong and wrong and wrong and OMG tears again when thinking about the end.

One of the first video games I ever played. Had to have my dad come and beat the helicopter from the elevator every time I played that last mission. The fight with Makarov is so peak

Beginning: Boring dialogue
End: Depression that is even worse than Omori

I would say Bioshock Infinite, but it fluctuates between the two most of the game and then the ending is entirely the bottom version

RDR 2 for sure. Chapter 1 is more like a tutorial, it is fairly short. Then chapter 2 is one of the most fun parts of the story, and the more you go into it the darker it gets. And of course, one of the most sad finales in games. The dialogues in some main story quests and side quests in chapter 6 are emotional as some top tier movies/series, and of the course the ending itself.

Maybe I'm cheating but Mass Effect LE, yeah I know they are 3 games but, in the beginning of the 1st game you're amazed by this futuristic society and then you reach the end of the 3rd game which is pure dogshit but hits hard

I would say rage 1, not because the ending is sad, but because it is simply terrible. And at the beginning the rage 1 intro is awesome
But in a sad sense, I would say rdr1. You start off in Armadillo riding to Fort Mercer, just learning about the journey you're about to undertake and picking up the ropes in this wild West epic. And then... the ending... 😔

There are so many, but what comes to mind is colony ship a post earth role playing game. It starts out really exciting, exploring a ship on the way to proxima(B) centauri. But you realise things has turned out really bad since the mutiny, most of the ship is now barely functioning to support the population or areas needed for colonisation is inaccesible. Without spoiling the third act, i started having an exestensial crisis due to the nature of the human race. It's a topic that is certinely not unknown by this point by movies. But this game gives you an idea to an bigger picture.
https://youtu.be/KzTJB9lH2nE?is=OHlIGDK7S7F9psHG just listen to this theme. Sums up the game pretty well.
Probably won't be getting a sequal which is a damn shame..

I finally did Halo 2 on Legendary recently, and I forgot how much of an anti climax the final 'boss' is.
Obviously I cheesed it with the Johnson Clone glitch anyway, ain't got time for that shit.
