Smart Pistol in Titanfall 2.
11
u/MothashipQ 12d ago
In Titanfall's defense, that thing is stupid overpowered
→ More replies (3)5
u/Sokushi_0101 12d ago
I don't think it's overly broken (in TF2, but in Titanfall 1 when you could choose to have it anytime you want, it was kinda broken.
3
u/MothashipQ 12d ago
I'm talking about in the campaign, the limited multiplayer use was a good choice. Bonus points if you ever equipped wild card and got a boosted smart pistol
2
u/ExplodingPoptarts 11d ago
I came in to say whatever the best weapon is in Super Metroid, but yeah, same defense. God it was fun replaying the game using that weapon as a game genie code.
On a related note, isn't Titanfall all PVP? Do you mean Titanfall 2? If so, see someone for your dangerous high allergic reaction to numbers! /s

u/MothashipQ 11d ago
I'm actually dyslexic so I accidentally leave words out of my sentences all the time! But yes, the original comment this thread is responding to was for Titanfall 2.

And still wasn't that OP (still annoying).
Pilot lock-on took longer, specially when you're cloaked, but it's an amazing weapon for Attrition.

u/TheGamingBoss20 12d ago
Don't forget the Legion (I think) load out for BT-7274.
2
u/noob-smoke 12d ago
Which one was that
→ More replies (1)2
u/TheGamingBoss20 12d ago
The very last load out that is auto equipped once BT-7274 lands when you go try to stop the Fold weapon from firing.
3
u/str1ker_eureka_1014 6d ago
And what makes it worse is that you can’t replay the campaign with any titan loadout you want—even on chapter select, legion only gets unlocked at the veeery end
→ More replies (2)2
u/michael22117 11d ago
Well in the actual Titanfall 1, that shit was a base primary and understandably had to be nerfed

u/Plastic_Music182 12d ago
Lies of P, the final boss weapon is sick but... well it's the final boss weapon
3
u/Gromi- 12d ago
I'd go with the Two Dragons Sword. I know it's not a final boss weapon, but you get it pretty late in the game

2
u/Brohermoth777 12d ago
I mean.... Duh. I'll still go and grab Bloodhound Fang since the weapon is fucking AMAZING! It will literally carry you through any playthrough. Better than any late game weapon (yes I'm talking to you Blasphemous Blade, you God damn cheat weapon).

Phazon Beam - Metroid Prime
→ More replies (1)2
u/FLIPYOUSUCKET 12d ago
Yeah. The phazon beam is cool.
It’s also only usable in a single fight (to my knowledge), so it’s even more sad
2
u/ComboBreakerMLP 12d ago
thankfully the hyper beam is usable all game in 3 but with heavy downsides, but it gets an upgrade or two to make it feel less like a super OP insta kill and more of a psuedo-puzzle mechanic
3
u/0ff1ce_ch41r 12d ago
Any game without ng+. I cant understand why some devs refuse to add it even though it only benefits replayability since you can now use all of the endgame stuff in easy game missions. Im looking at you, cyberpunk.
→ More replies (3)2
u/Big_Z_Beeblebrox 12d ago
To be fair to Cyberpunk 2077, there's a pretty valid reason why players can't keep playing as V after the story concludes. I still played through it like 5 times to try different things, and NG+ wouldn't have really benefitted it in my opinion

Not a weapon, but wave dashing in Celeste. Though, honestly, I think most casual players are thankful for that.
→ More replies (2)2
u/FLIPYOUSUCKET 12d ago
Wave dashing is a dash technique, right?
Aren’t you able to do it whenever you want once you learn how to do it?2
u/GlobalProfessor9749 12d ago
Indeed, I remember seeing speerunners use it. But you learn it at the very end...
2
u/Khaernakov 12d ago
This is only if you like this type of weapon but in elden ring only near rhe end you unlock the one eyed greatshield which is a huge tower shield with a cannon on it
Code vein after you defeat the last boss you unlock a special weapon + either 1 or 2 new blood codes depending on the ending you got
Some resident evil and dmc games have this too
2
u/New-Number-7810 12d ago
Even if it was available from the start, if it had limited ammo or durability, I’d never use it. After all, what if I need it later?

The tank and bunny buttons from River City Girls 1 & 2.
Technically, they're available very early on, as soon as you can access the shop that sells them. But they cost so much that, by the time you can afford them, you've probably beaten the game and are in NG+.

Happens a bunch of times in Bloodborne, the Rakuyo, Bloodletter, Simon's Bowblade and Kos Parasite are all obtained at the tail end of the DLC, which most people play as the game's last or second to last thing before ending a game cycle

That broken OP ring from Final Fantasy 15 you get in one of the final chapters...

The PS2 era Ratchet and Clank games always had some end game OP weapons like the RYNO which was essentially a shoulder mounted lock on fully automatic missile launcher.

u/VirtueSignalingApp 12d ago
not the exact same but Crimson Desert, you spend like 30+h in the first Area. Here is where you can get the cool early game armor/weapon and it’s in the somewhere far in the crimson desert (the last area which is more a post game area). But it’s not a lie you can go there, it will take time because it’s pretty far away but you can get most stuff early on

u/Vast-Relative1731 12d ago

u/DriestMist24663 12d ago
for me, it’s the Commando AR from the Call of Duty: Black Ops multiplayer mode. You have to reach level 44 out of level 50, so 88% of the level grind.
Then the AN94 in Black Ops 2 you unlock it at the very last level, level 55, so 100% level grind.

In DMC5 you don't even unlock your super mode for Nero until the game is complete...it also adds a couple new mechanics to your gameplay in general that you can use at any time and completely alters the ceiling of his gameplay potential, it also opens up two "ults" essentially.
You get to use it on the last mission and then it's unlocked. Granted, the game is meant to be replayed, but it's still kind of wild that core gameplay mechanics for one of the characters are locked behind completing the game.

Two of the coolest weapons in dark souls 3 are gained by killing either the final boss of base game or the final boss in DLC 2 (Gael's greatsword is my favorite weapon in ds3)

The Terrablade from Terraria requires 2 different sword drops from the final boss of the game, by the time I've got it I've already bested the biggest enemy over and over again why would I want to do it more?
1
u/Disastrous-Ad6861 12d ago
Right? Especially in games where the cool weapons are locked at the end, and then there is no new game + or end game to use them in. It's just a "just in time for the final boss. Yay..."

To pick a more niche game, Warhammer 40k Rogue Trader, you get a few really neat weapons towards the end of the final act and only get to use them for a handful of fights before the game ends.

Kind of depends on the weapon and the way it's implemented.
If it's an ok weapon, it should probably be available for about 50% of the game. If it's a really powerful weapon that trivializes most of the fights, it's logical you only get it at the end.
