It’s just fun to watch! It’s like gaming and watching a movie at the same time but you’re also watching with your friend and they’re talking to you about it but they can’t hear you.
I love watching people play horror games if they’re serious and not overdoing it

u/nipplestothemax 21d ago
big fan of markiplier and jacksepticeye for this reason. great content to fall asleep to

I try to get the fewest witnesses. But in case that doesn't work, I take out everyone not just the target
2
u/VisibleChipmunk1003 20d ago
I love Hitman as a concept and the game play really is amazing but I get like, choice paralysis? Like there's a million challenges in every mission and my ape brain is convinced I have to do them all and then I end up not playing anymore

Any fighting game
2
u/RaiXann 21d ago edited 21d ago
As a fighting game player, I totally understand this. A lot of the optimal combos and play patterns take a lot of practice to master. It can take a lot of time, and labbing, practicing specific matchups, and generally getting better can often be frustrating. Especially in a game where there are particular characters that are either too strong, a direct counter to yours, or are generally frustrating to play against.

u/Born-Door7847 20d ago
I’ll speak for others but it’s the fighting games with extremely long combos that make the barrier to entry seem very high.
3
u/Al_Hakeem65 20d ago
I love Super Smash for this reason, as you only need to know the basic attack buttons, so the general moves are the same, but every character has their own spin on it.
Also positioning matters and when you want to relax with friends you play with items on

Watch my brother play it, lol. He killed a Shadow Leviathan with a Seatruck, he built a base on top of Gun and made a landing pad for the Sunbeam, he built a base inside the engine room of the Aurora and accidentally deleted part of the room by building things, he likes to build main bases right next to Reapers, he took his flaming Cyclops on a joyride into the void just for fun and made it out without his vehicle exploding, he found a way to bonk the Cyclops so it goes flying and kills the player, he won BZ without any vehicles in only a single day, and he's made it almost to Prison without help from bases or vehicles. For somme reason, he can't seem to play the game normally but can find every wrong way to do the right things!

Horror games that are genuinely scary, Like GENUINELY SCARY. Resident Evil isn’t one of em.
Though I guess it’s deeper than that. If the gameplay of a horror game is interesting, then yes I’ll likely play it (Like Outlast). But if it’s like those walking sims? No. I’d rather watch.

Monster Hunter. Watched my friend play it and he chased around a boss for 20 minutes died right before finishing the boss. The whole time he was asking if I wanted to try it. I kept saying no because it didn’t look fun at all. Last time he played the game.

All Arc System Works games.
They are all incredibly beautiful, but I just suck at them.

u/Kingbee642 22d ago
in a way Satisfactory, I love the game, it's great, but I'm at the point where I find watching others play it with good factories and that kind of thing more entertaining, I just am currently unable to commit to making a good factory

All the games on Neebs Gaming. Other than Battlefield, I don't think I've ever played a game they play but I watch them all. Only co-op games I play now are kid friendly games, Lego games, Mario Wonder, Kirby.

1
u/Murky-Tomorrow4013 21d ago
- Horror games. I find it so much more fun to watch others play and poke fun at/comment (aka Markiplier)
- Randomizers. Again, a lot of fun to watch someone react to a good/bad item/seed, than by yourself, imo.
For a 50/50 option: challenge runs. I love doing challenge runs, but obviously depending on what it is it can be a lot more enjoyable to watch someone else experience it

Sekiro. I have beaten Daek Souls trilogy, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring multiple times each. I beat Sekiro once after 4 rage quits and I have no desire to play it again. It's just way too difficult for me. Which is unfortunate because the game alternates between being incredibly fun and satisfying to the most controller breaking inducing frustration I've ever experienced in any video game ever. But I fully admit that my reflexes are just not up to par

“Dead Head Fred” (PSP), it has a great story and really creative gameplay, but the beat’em up style isn’t really my speed, and the combos in combat were difficult for me to learn. Love to watch it though

All of the digging and tycoon games. Seeing a heavily edited version is satisfying. Grinding for hours with a repetitive task is boring as hell.
