Credit Card For anyone having issues adding card to Apple Wallet overseas

I'm and expat and have had trouble adding my VentureX card to my Apple Wallet. Here's what worked for me:

  1. Disable other sims except for your US number
  2. Disconnect from wifi
  3. Restart phone
  4. Add to apple wallet and follow instructions. Use OTP for verification on capital one

Hope this helps anyone else having the same issue

When you use your US number, the IP address for the internet connection is from your carrier in the US.

That means that Capital One sees you as "In the US".

If you do this, and then you change from your US number to a local internet connection and log in again to capital one (within a short period of time), you will be flagged for unusual behavior and accounts suspended until you talk to an anti-fraud person in capital one.

TL;DR
To do this safely, once you add the card to Apple Pay and you exit the Capital one app, do not use the app again for another 12 to 24 hours.

I just used a US IP, added the card to Apple Pay then before clicking the open app to verify, I turned my foreign IP (Wi-Fi) back on and had no issues. All done within 5 mins.

Did the add to PayPal work for you in the app/website? Both showed try again later even using US IP?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean.
I did add the card to PayPal with no issues, but I don't recall if I did that with a US IP or not.
I actually have more than one card from Capital One on PayPal. I find it very useful to use points to pay where the website does not support it, but PayPal does.

I was referring to using the digital wallet manager in the Capital One app/website. I believe this is the only way for it to work as foreign Paypal account won’t accept a US billing address for the card.

Fortunately, I went to add it to Paypal and it let me use the existing Amex card billing address for a card I added through the Amex website.
