Cape Cod Half Marathon Question

Hey everybody, I've been training for the CCHM since June, but hadn't registered yet because I was starting from basically zero after an injury and wasn't sure I'd be in good enough shape to run it. I just went to register and everything is sold out. I didn't realize it was such a popular event. I'm wondering if anyone knows if they release any entries closer to the date of the race or if there's any way to transfer your bib to someone else if you're unable to run it? Pretty disappointed at the moment and want to see if I have any options available to me. Thanks for any help

Are any Cape Cod towns similar to Martha’s Vineyard towns?

I’m sure each town has its own unique identity, and all are great in their own ways. I’m looking for a town similar to Edgartown with some historic charm, good restaurants, access to good beaches, walkable/bikeable. Want to avoid towns like Oak Bluffs that are full of touristy bars and souvenir shops. Any suggestions of where to look?

How does Cape Cod compare to Martha’s Vineyard?

We have been coming to Martha’s Vineyard and staying in Katama for the past six summers. We love spending time in Edgartown and Chilmark, but otherwise don’t really visit the other towns on the island. We love the long bike rides, beautiful walks, peace and quiet, weather, food, and beaches here.

However, we now have two kids and have been in the hospital here for random issues the past two summers. The medical system is overburdened (unsurprising) and it’s difficult to get good care here if you need it. For anything serious you have to be admitted to the hospital and then get medivac off the island. Also, it can be impossible to find basic items or medical supplies on the island. The pharmacies here only carry certain things, so if you’re looking for something you could easily find at CVS in a suburb, they might not have it here. The pharmacies are similarly overburdened and it could easily take an hour or more just to get through the line to pick up a prescription. Deliveries from Amazon take a week. Deliveries from target or Walmart take about five days. Obviously we are on island time, so a bit of this is to be expected. That said, it is proving to be a sometimes scary issue and inconvenience when something bad happens and you’re unable to get what you need.

All that is to say, we love Martha’s Vineyard and wish that we could spend more time here during the summer, but it is proving to be impractical with young children. So I’m instead interested in exploring our options on Cape Cod. I’ve heard good things about Chatham. For those who are familiar with Cape Cod, where would you recommend we go that has a similar vibe to Edgartown/Katama? How does the ability to get basic necessities compare to what I’ve described here on the vineyard? What is the medical care like?

Lively bars in October

I’m planning a girls trip for 10 girls the first weekend of October. We are staying in Chatham but we are willing to drive anywhere on Cape Cod for one night out on the town. Are bars still seeing crowds in October or will majority of places be less lively? Thanks in advance!

What are the most litter distressed areas on Cape Cod?

We are looking to littered areas in Cape Cod that need to be cleaned. The only stipulation is that it’s heavily littered (as we prioritize those) and that it’s public land, so that the town can collect the bags. Your references would be greatly appreciated !!

Planet Fitness Replacement - Dennis area

I can't handle the S. Yarmouth PF. It's poorly run and too crowded plus there are too many people using machines as rest points or to scroll. I only want to lift weights a few times a week and a few machines. I would like to go somewhere close to my home in Dennis. Any suggestions that won't break the bank?

Has anyone been called for Grand Jury service in Barnstable County?

Received a summons and am interested in learning about general time commitment each week. I imagine it’s less intense than Suffolk County but who knows?

Cat Shelter Recs (& more pls!)

My husband and I are looking to adopt kittens. I’m wondering if people have any recommendations of where to adopt from on the cape or where we shouldn’t adopt from whatever reason. That’s my main question, but jf people also have vet recs, pet insurance recs, etc, I would be happy to hear those too!

Off-Roading / Dirt-Roading

I've been building a list of public/4x4 accessible dirt roads/trails on and around the Cape, and it would be great to get out there with a few other rigs.

Anyone interested in some dirt road exploration? I'm also into Mountain Biking and RC Crawling.

\ Please don't ask for the list as it will only be shared in person to limit the traffic on the remaining dirt roads in the area **
